After a somewhat lukewarm and disappointing season 7, 24 is back with another season. It’s been a while since we saw Jack Bauer and it looks like he’s fully recovered from his ordeal from the end of last season.
Jack is living it up with his family. He’s fully reconciled with Kim and her husband and he’s spending time with his granddaughter Terri, who looks like she’s about 4. One of the biggest mistakes of the screenwriters in the last season was coming up with a fictional African country. It’s really bad that they did this. They’ve done it again with this season. This season features an Islamic republic named Kamistan. WTF you imbeciles? Didn’t you guys learn anything from last season?
This is why Spooks is so much more entertaining because it’s more realistic. I’m kind of annoyed that they’ve done it again this time around. Still, it’s good to see Jack at it again. There was another thing that kind of annoyed me. Chloe is having trouble with the new CTU systems. She’s been back a month and has trouble learning them. It’s really surprising and doesn’t make much sense, since Chloe has always been the über-analyst of this season.
There are some interesting additions in the cast. Katee Sackhoff is most intriguing. She plays another analyst, who’s involved with an agent named Cole.
Warning: spoilers ahead.

The season premiere wasn’t bad at all. It had the right mix of intrigue, politics and espionage, though I’m still fuming at the fictional Islamic republic of Kamistan. Jack’s a granddad and he’s still got it.
In the seventh episode, Renee goes after Vlad. Jack is hurt as well as they try and pick up the shambles of their operation, Banyan and his buddies get away. Banyan, Bazhaev, whatever. Starts with B, right?

Taylor has to brief the British ambassador about CTU and the nuclear material.
Jack is on his way to meet Vlad. Ortiz is following. CTU found them on the traffic cams. Dana gets a call from Jake. They are about to pull their heist on the NYPD evidence warehouse.
Jack wants to pull Renee out, but she won’t go.
Jake and his buddy break into the NYPD warehouse. Dana is guiding them. I wonder if she’ll leave them inside one of the rooms. The buddy doesn’t want to leave yet. He’s an asshat and decides to act like an asshat. He checks out what else is inside. The next patrol is in 15 minutes.
Banyan wants to bury his son in the back. Vlad calls Banyan. He wants to know the price for the rods. Banyan denies that he has them.
Bazhaev calls the rod delivery guy and tells them to go to a safe place and await his call.
Taylors calls Hassan. She informs him what she did. She got assurances from the diplomats that they are still going on. Meanwhile, Hassan is having his cousin tortured. Well, not yet. He will have his family arrested. When his security man speaks up, he talks with the 2nd in command. He wants his orders followed, not questioned. Hassan is obviously paranoid.
Jake tries to leave but his buddy Nick points a gun at him and wants the money all for himself. It’s just a water gun. They don’t leave in time. The cop calls in what he saw. Nick beats up the cop and they run off like a bunch of hicks.
Tarin goes to see Hassan’s daughter Kyla. He tells her about what her father has done. He says that Hassan has changed since Fahrad’s betrayal. Secret Police have arrived to arrest Tarin. I guess that Americans will easily confuse Indians with Arabs now. The people from the fake Islamic republic are a mix of different ethnicities. The head honchoes are all Indian actors who speak with Indian accents.
Renee is pushing Vlad to make some calls, but he’s tired of it. He socks her in the face, and she replies by stabbing him a few times. She then mistakenly stabs Jack. He takes out the other two men.
Bauer briefs Hastings. He covers for Renee. While waiting for Cole, Russians arrive. Jack realizes that Vlad must have called whoever had the rods. They just didn’t want Vlad to know about it. Jack says that he will have to let them take him so that they can lead him to the rods. It kind of works. Jack hid Renee in a cupboard. She’s safe and they leave. Ortiz arrives with this tac-team and forensics.
No vehicle arrived nor left the premises. Jack only let himself be taken because he thought that they would track him through the air. He was wrong. They left through the sewers.
