Lost What Kate Does S06E03 (ABC)

Lost title card

Lost is a United States serial drama television series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. The show was created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber, and is filmed primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii. The pilot episode was first broadcast on September 22, 2004. Since then, three seasons have aired. The show is produced by ABC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and Grass Skirt Productions and airs on the ABC Network in the United States. Its incidental music is composed by Michael Giacchino. The current executive producers are Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse. Because of its large ensemble cast and the cost of filming in Hawaii, the series is one of the most expensive on television.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This is the start of the final season of Lost. It looks like the narrative is initially split up into three different timelines, but two of them rapidly merge. Ilana and her pals quickly die at the hands of Fake-Locke. It’s pretty self-explanatory that Fake-Locke is Jacob’s nemesis. There are a bunch of new Others at the Temple, including their Japanese leader.

Juliet dies, but what does that mean exactly. They buried her body, but I’m sure that we’ll see her again. So the narrative is split between what’s going on right now on the Island and what happened after the bomb was detonated. Oceanic Flight 815 never crashed. Strangely enough, there are some links between the timelines, meaning that exploding the bomb did significantly change things. Jin is also speaking English right now, which takes a while to get used to.

Sayid does indeed die and naturally comes back from the dead thanks to the Spring at the Temple. The guitar case that Jacob gave Hurley contained a giant wooden ankh. Inside, there is a message that said that if Sayid died, they’d all be in terrible danger.

In this episode, we learn that Sayid is infected by something, the Black Smoke monster most likely, which could be Jacob’s nemesis. The other thing that surprised me was that Claire is back in the present. I also realized that this is a new timeline, which started at the beginning of this season. The old one was eradicated with what they did in the last season. This is why the past and the present are linked. We are seeing the differences between the timelines, between what happened in the past in the other season, and the new one that was established.

Kind of awesome in my book.

Henchman informs the Japanese boss of the New Others that Sayid is alive. Sawyer wants to get out. Sayid’s wound has almost completely healed.

The Japanese head honcho arrives. He wants to talk with Sayid. As usual, Jack makes a scene. Sawyer has a gun and stops them from doing anything else. He wants out. He leaves. The Japanese guy wants him to stay and says this in English. Kate offers to track Sawyer and bring him back. Jin will go with her. The Others let them go. They say that it’s very important that they come back safely.

The Japanese guy has got Sayid all strapped up for a torture session. He puts some nipple clamps onto him and starts the juice. Then, he moves onto a hot poker. The guy says that it was a test. They had to make sure that he was human. It’s revealed that he lied to Sayid.

The Others with Kate say that they need to stay at the Temple to protect them from the Smoke Monster. Kate uses one of the traps to escape. She smartly incapacitates the two Others and leaves.

Sayid is back. He says that they tortured him. Jack goes to see the Japanese dude. They say that Sayid is “infected”. He gives him a pill that Sayid has to take. Sayid needs to take it willingly. If Sayid doesn’t take it, the infection will spread. Jack tells Sayid that the Others fixed him. Sayid trusts Jack. If Jack says to take it, he will.

Kate finds the Dharma Initiative village. She finds James. He left something in his old house in the 70s. He came to get it. He doesn’t see her. He pulls a gun. He’s not interested in talking. Kate says that she came back to the Island to find Claire. They are at the docks. James throws away Juliet’s engagement ring into the ocean.

The Japanese dude is Dogan. He was brought here like everyone else. He won’t tell Jack what’s in the pill. So Jack tries to swallow it. Dogan beats it out of him just in time. The capsule is filled with poison.

Dogan says that they believe that Sayid was “claimed”. There is a darkness growing inside of him. Once it reaches his heart, everything around him will be gone. Dogan says that this happened to his sister.

Jin is on his way back to the Temple and gets ambushed by the two Others. His leg gets caught in a bear trap. They are about to shoot him. Someone shots both of them. It’s Claire.

Kate hijacked Claire’s cab. On their way out of the airport, they see Jack. The cabbie escapes at a light. Kate dumps her a little further on. She finds someone to get her out of her cuffs. She has Claire’s bag. It’s filled with baby supplies.

Kate brings back Claire’s stuff. She’s on the way to meet the couple who will adopt her baby. Kate offers her a ride.

It looks like this is the same new timeline. This part is the past and the part on the island is the present. The new timeline was established with the beginning of the season with Jacob’s death.

Claire finds out that the couple split up. Claire goes into labor. They arrive at the hospital. Kate grabs Dr. Goodspeed, who’s actually Ethan. She can give birth. Claire wants to take the drugs. She’s not ready.

The cops show up looking for Kate. Claire covers for her.
