Castle Food to Die For S02E22 (ABC)

I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.

Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.

So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

Warning: spoilers ahead

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.

Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.

ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.

Castle meets an old friend of Beckett’s, who’s running a famous restaurant. Things go south when her head chef is found frozen to death in the kitchen.

Castle arrives at the station and finds out that Tom asked Beckett out on a date. He doesn’t like it. They get called to their next case. Balthazar Wolf is the DB, he was a well-known chef. He was frozen with liquid nitrogen. The owner of the restaurant is one of Beckett’s friends. Madison Keller knew Beckett from high school. For the last couple of weeks, he disappeared at 3 and came back at 5. They find popcorn soup, the speciality of the line chef Domingo. Wolf’s emergency contact was David Nicolaides.

David says that Wolf had some financial troubles. He put the money he won in Kitchen Wars into the new restaurant. Domingo was found at the airport trying to flee to Ecuador. They arrest him.

Domingo wasn’t aware that Wolf was dead. He gave him $5K for his sister’s surgery. He had a lot of money in his backpack. One of Wolf’s angry girlfriend’s was at the restaurant when he left.

Two weeks ago, Wolf withdrew $15K. Then, he withdrew the $40K that he got when his friend David bought out his share of the diner that his father had left him. Wolf was closest with David’s family. The SIM card was damaged.

Domingo made a sketch of Sandra, a patron of the restaurant. Her name is Sandra Meyers. They had sex in the kitchen.

I could shoot porn in my living room, he wouldn’t notice.
Sandra

Two weeks ago, Wolf said that he was finished with Sandra. She came to see him last night. Castle also asks to go out with Madison to some charity event.

Wolf went to Café Rex at 3:45PM every day for the last two weeks. He was killed between 2 and 4 AM. This rules out Meyers and Domingo. Wolf was beaten up two weeks ago. He was hit on the head with the rotary evaporator. They find some prints and came up with a hit: Jennifer Wong.

Wong was a rival chef on Kitchen Wars. She swore that she would kill him because he stole her recipe. Wong says that the rivalry was an act. She secured financing for her catering company. The rotary evaporator is hers. She loaned it to him the day he died. He was carrying a backpack and seemed in a rush. She dropped him off at a big office building. Wolf was staring and sipping tea at Café Rex.

Madison comes by the station and looks fabulous in red. I like Beckett better. Madison asks her if she likes Rick. Beckett says no, but it’s obvious that she’s lying. Tom comes to see him and says that he has to cancel their date. He gets some takeout and they eat at the station.

Wolf went to see a lawyer. Wolf wanted to leave the restaurant and wanted out of his contract from Madison. His death means that Madison gets the restaurant free thanks to the insurance. She stood to lose over 2 million if Wolf left.

When you stomped in there like the fun police.
Castle

Castle isn’t happy because of all of the great food he was missing. Two weeks ago, Wolf told her that he wanted to leave. Keller says that she was going to let him out of his contract when she found a new chef. Tom finds out that Wolf owed money to a bookie. He owed $25K so the bookie beat him up. The day he died he paid what he owed. His guys took his diamond ring. He got it back. Castle thinks that he knows where it is. It’s in the magical cake that Wolf was making for his potential fiancée. They find the ring but don’t know why the woman didn’t come forward. He was going to propose.

You want to make Castle babies.
Madison

They go to Café Rex and look for the mystery girl. It’s his foster brother’s girlfriend. She knew him for 10 years. Cecily was preggers. Wolf knew that the baby was his. The night of Wolf’s murder, Dave gave her a sleeping pill.

They find Wolf’s backpack at Dave’s house. They also find forensic evidence, cracked shoes from liquid nitrogen. Beckett and Castle talk. He tells her that he’s not going to be dating Madison. Beckett tells Tommy that she can’t go out with him either tonight, but she makes plans for tomorrow.

Beckett goes to see Madison to catch up. Wong is working at the restaurant as head chef
