The Vampire Diaries Founders Day S01E22 (CW)

Fresh on the heels of the boring Twilight craze, and the well-deserved True Blood phase, CW is offering up its latest in teen dramas. Apparently, this show drew 5 million viewers its first night. That’s probably due to Twilight-hype. I can’t stand Twilight. It sucks ass. I couldn’t read the books, but read a review from Dan Bergstein on those Stephanie Meyer books. It was very entertaining. The movie kind of sucked as well.

This is the situation, as I’ve divined it using my psychic powers. The Fox network saw that Twilight was really working well. Wow, maybe vamps are cool again, said one exec. Another said, maybe not, remember Forever Knight. Then, everyone went bonkers for True Blood. The same exec said it confirmed his theory that vamps are back in, notably teen vamps, not crazy sex-addicted vamps. One exec mentioned Teen Wolf, the other slapped him on the back of the head.

So, we need to find a teen vampire series. Wait, my daughter used to read some vampire thingie called The Vampire Diaries in the 90s. Let’s pressure L. J. Smith to write some sequels as an added incentive. That will make it cool!

Warning: spoilers ahead

Logan is back and both Damon and Stefan are after him. They aren’t the only ones, as the new boy in town, Alaric, is also a hunter. Other vampires are coming soon in order to break the vampires that were sealed in by Emily underneath the church. Now that Damon discovered this, he won’t be leaving Mystic Falls anytime soon. Elena gets into a bad accident and she meets one of the new vamps.

The show is getting less ridiculous, but I can’t really handle the romantic bits between Elena and Stefan. It’s still 100% pedophilia, as he’s almost 150 years older than she is.

Isobel’s arrival was predictable, yet anticlimactic. I like Mia Kirshner, but she wasn’t really interesting in this role. She played a heartless vampire bitch, but it was all too robotic for my taste. Ah well, whatever, I wonder how many times she’ll appear in this show.

It’s Founder’s Day and everyone is dressed up with costumes. Elena looks like Katherine.

Anna comes to see Jeremy. She’s going to be leaving town and she wants him to come with her. She will turn him. She gives her a vial of her blood. He says that he wants to but he can’t. She leaves.

Stefan tells Elena that John might be her father. Jeremy isn’t interested in dealing with Elena now. She had his memories erased of Vickie’s death.

There is a parade.

John shows the device to the mayor. Any vampire within a 5 block radius will be incapacitated. The deputies will inject them with Verbena. Then, they will be brought to be dispatched. They tell their plan to the Sheriff, but she isn’t on board, so John knocker her out.

Anna comes to see Damon. The vampires from the tomb are planning an attack tonight. The vampires are in place. The fireworks start and John activates the device. Damon is right there and falls to his knees. Ric comes and gets them away. The mayor also fell to the floor. All of them were injected with Verbena.

Ty is a vampire. He loses control of the car they are in. John uses gas on the vamps. He stakes Anna. He lights up the vampires.

Ric and Stefan surmise that the Gilbert device was used. The mayor’s wife comes to see the Sheriff. The mayor isn’t a vampire. He is killed by the head tomb vampire.

The paramedics examine Ty. He’s got some strange eyes. Caroline falls to the ground after the accident.

Stefan and Elena try to get into the burning building. Bonnie is there. She grabs Elena’s hand and incants. The fire is less strong, but just for a moment. It’s long enough for Stefan to get Damon out.

Damon comes to see Jeremy. He tells her that Anna is dead. Jeremy takes some pills and drinks her blood. He wants to turn himself.

Bonnie tells Stefan that if Damon spills one more drop of innocent blood, she will take him down, even if she has to kill Stefan along the way.

Damon and Elena kiss. Jenna catches them together. Actually, it wasn’t Elena, it was Katherine. She is talking with John and cuts off the fingers of his left hand. Then, she stabs him.
