Chuck Versus the Ring Part II S03E19 (NBC)

Chuck is an American science-fiction television program created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The series is about an “average computer-whiz-next-door” who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend Bryce Larkin, a rogue CIA agent, which happens to embed the world’s greatest spy secrets into his brain. This is called the intersect.

From the Wikipedia entry on Chuck.

While Chuck has to deal with his new situation, he gets to enjoy the company of Sarah, working for the CIA, and Casey, working for the DOD. They use him as an asset to accomplish their missions, which surprisingly happen around town (?).

Chuck has just started its third season and it’s still entertaining. The mix between an everyday guy and espionage doesn’t get boring, since the character of Chuck actually puts us in these situations as well. I recommend it, though it’s not for everybody.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The third season started a bit strangely. Chuck has been training for a while, but it isn’t really working out. He’s not able to control the Intersect. Does anyone else think that this is like controlling the Force? Maybe Chuck should get some training from a Jedi Master to calm his nerdy and horny mind.

This was a pretty good episode. It all ended with a nice little twist. It was obvious that Orion would die, that much was evident from the dialog in this episode. So Chuck has got another version of the Intersect, and his dad was an independent spy.

It’s obvious that Mary Elizabeth Bartowski is part of the Ring. She’s still wearing the necklace Orion gave her years ago as a bracelet.

The season finale had its moments. While I agree that it was time for Chuck to move away from the BuyMore, I wonder how next season will pan out. I give this episode a B+.

They need to sell more or Moses will close the store. Lester has the idea of having a going out of business sale to rack up some sales.

Ellie is leaving. She’s going off the grid. Chuck finds Beckman through a remote network. Shaw’s plan is to discredit Beckman and take her place at a sort of spy conference. She tells them that the five Ring Elders will be there. Chuck flashes.

Chuck and Sarah pose as part of the Russian delegation. Chuck and Morgan break into the electric system to hack into the conference database. Chuck’ disguise is pretty good, but I doubt that it would fool an Intersect operative.

Justin finds them. Chuck flashes and it hurts. Sarah has to fight them instead. Shaw makes his big speech. Chuck taunts Shaw during his speech via a phone call. Shaw texts the Ring Elders to leave now.

Chuck is waiting for Shaw in room 752. The plan was to snag the Ring Elders. Chuck installed cameras in the suite. Shaw confessed to being a Ring operative and wanting to destroy the CIA. Chuck flashes and winces in pain. Shaw goes after him. When Sarah arrives, he jumps out of the window and crashes into the level below them. Chuck is doing badly. He can’t move.

Shaw calls Sarah. He’s got a deadman’s trigger. He wants Chuck. Sarah puts an alert out that the BuyMore has been breached and goes after Shaw. Morgan is tied to a chair. He calls Casey. He tells him to break his thumbs and get out of the zip ties. He needs to pull the fire alarm.

Jeff pulls the fire alarm before Morgan can pull it. He’s also got two broken thumbs. Everyone is trying to get out. Shaw has got Sarah. He cuffs her to the Nerd Herd desk. Chuck arrives. He’s got a gun. They decide to do a game of fisticuffs instead. Chuck flashes and he’s almost out of it. The fight looks pretty gay. There are a lot of fake chops.

Chuck remembers when he was a kid he downloaded an Intersect into himself. He must have been about 8. His dad comes back and tells him that he assimilated a whole bunch of data. He’s special. Chuck is back up and running. The Intersect was rebooted. Chuck has got the upper hand and the trigger is gone. Chuck doesn’t kill him and Sarah knocks him out. Sarah takes the Governor and puts it back on Chuck’s wrist.

Jeff, Lester and Big Mike are hiding out in Jeff’s van.

Your voice is a vocal felon.
Big Mike to Lester

Morgan finds the detonator and drops it. The bombs are armed and the BuyMore explodes. A few minutes beforehand, Chuck told Sarah that he’s quitting being a spy. He can’t lie to Ellie.

Chuck and Ellie have a wake for their dad. Alex drops by. Chuck told Beckman that he’s out. Chuck receives a text message and goes to his computer. It’s a message from his dad. He wants Chuck to do something for him. He says that he’s been a spy for the last 20 years, working for himself. He goes to his old house and goes into his father’s lair. There is an underground lair filled with data and files. He wants him to learn about his family.

Chuck’s mom is alive and well. She’s also a spy. Jeff and Lester are fugitives. They are on the run.
