Chuck Versus the Subway S03E18 (NBC)

Chuck is an American science-fiction television program created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The series is about an “average computer-whiz-next-door” who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend Bryce Larkin, a rogue CIA agent, which happens to embed the world’s greatest spy secrets into his brain. This is called the intersect.

From the Wikipedia entry on Chuck.

While Chuck has to deal with his new situation, he gets to enjoy the company of Sarah, working for the CIA, and Casey, working for the DOD. They use him as an asset to accomplish their missions, which surprisingly happen around town (?).

Chuck has just started its third season and it’s still entertaining. The mix between an everyday guy and espionage doesn’t get boring, since the character of Chuck actually puts us in these situations as well. I recommend it, though it’s not for everybody.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The third season started a bit strangely. Chuck has been training for a while, but it isn’t really working out. He’s not able to control the Intersect. Does anyone else think that this is like controlling the Force? Maybe Chuck should get some training from a Jedi Master to calm his nerdy and horny mind.

This was a pretty good episode. It all ended with a nice little twist. It was obvious that Orion would die, that much was evident from the dialog in this episode. So Chuck has got another version of the Intersect, and his dad was an independent spy.

Chuck’s dad is working on his governor. Sarah comes by and they take a walk. At the market, he flashes on Shaw’s voice. He goes after him and finds him on a subway train. It’s most definitely Shaw.

Awesome hasn’t shaven and comes to see Morgan. Ellie didn’t come home last night. Morgan tells him that Ellie is having an affair. He starts drinking at the BuyMore.

Ellie is being detained by the Ring posing as the CIA.

Casey is having lunch. He is spying on his daughter.

They try and contact Beckman, but she’s indisposed. Chuck’s dad IDs Shaw easily enough from CCTV footage. They see him go into some door in another subway station.

Ellie is like Chuck but with lady parts.

Beckman is giving testimony to a military tribunal on the Intersect status.

Casey, Chuck and Sarah breach the Ring facility. Ellie is there. Casey thinks that something is wrong here. It’s not a Ring base, it’s a CIA base. Justin goes after Chuck, but he flashes just in time. Ellie sees Chuck as a secret agent. The truth is out of the bag. Justin runs away and Chuck goes after him. They arrive at the tribunal session and interrupt it. It was all a clever ploy by Shaw. The committee is here to determine if the Intersect should be allowed.

Shaw is there to give evidence against him. Shaw was sanctioned by the committee to act as a double agent. Shaw says that Chuck is an American hero. Shaw brings up his medical problems. Shaw recommends that the Intersect project should be aborted.

During the briefing, Shaw flashes on Alexis White. Chuck claims that Shaw has Intersect. He does what his dad did to him. He throws a sharp letter opener at Shaw. However, Shaw has got enough control on his Intersect so that he doesn’t touch the knife.

Ellie comes home and talks with Devon. He blurts out that Chuck has been in the CIA for years. He tells it all to Ellie. He doesn’t have enough answers, so they go to Morgan.

I don’t want a soothing brain bath, I want answers.
Ellie

Casey tries to get his daughter out of here, but Justin is waiting for him. He threatens the girl. Casey isn’t very happy. Casey knocks him out and takes his daughter out of there. He gives his locker key to his daughter. She doesn’t know that he’s her father. She tries to get away. He tells her that he’s her father. He tells her to run to her mom and disappear. The CIA has come for him.

Chuck’s dad is letting him out of custody. He hacked the facility. He leaves the facility. Sarah says that if he leaves, there will be a burn notice out on him and they will never stop hunting him. He kisses Sarah and leaves with his dad in a jeep.

Shaw talks with Sarah. He’s set a trap for Sarah as well. He pushed some kind of button under his desk. He knows that Sarah’s real name is Sam. It was a panic button. Agents come to get her.

Morgan is talking with Beckman. She’s shredding documents. She says that Chuck is a wanted man. They are shutting down the Intersect project. She says that Morgan is their only hope. The message is repeated twice, kind of like in Star Wars.

Chuck’s dad finished the Governor. It’s working. Morgan calls Chuck. He says that the CIA has got Sarah and Casey. Shaw is after Chuck and the Governor. They decide to go after them.

Chuck and his dad go see Ellie. They need her help. They want to know about her meetings with Justin. They trace him to a subway maintenance entrance. They tell her to stay put and go into the facility. My gut feeling says that Chuck’s father might die.

Justin tells Shaw that the Bartowskis infiltrated the Ring base, not the CIA base like they expected. Casey is proud. The Ring saved Shaw’s life and turned him into an Intersect. Meanwhile, Ellie is upstairs. She sees Shaw and Justin arrive. She goes after them. Shaw wants the Governor. Just takes it from him. Shaw knows about his weakness and the problem his Intersect has functioning when he’s emotionally compromised. Shaw shoots his father and he dies. Man, that was predictable. Ellie sees this.

Alex goes to the BuyMore. Morgan helps her out. Casey’s locker had a secret compartment filled with money and passports.

Morgan, Awesome and Ellie help Chuck and Sarah. They are being driven to some other facility.
