United States of Tara From this Day Forward S02E12 (Showtime)

United States of Tara is a dramedy on Showtime. It stars Toni Collette. It was created by Steven Spielberg and developed by Diablo Cody. The show follows the life of a woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder, also known as multiple personality disorder. It shows how she and her family copes with her disease. She’s decided to stop taking her meds and to find the root cause of her disorder. T, Alice, and Buck are three of her alter-egos who re-emerge.

I liked the show. There is obviously a part of Tara that likes getting attention from everyone, which is why she prances around in public in different personas, but usually, her family keeps a tight lid on her to help her deal with this.

Toni Collette is a great actress and she plays the role of Tara pretty well. I enjoyed seeing her as T, the wild teenager and as Buck, the drinking vet.

I don’t remember why I stopped posting about this show, maybe they are archived on my laptop, but I remember watching the whole first series and enjoying it. Quite a lot more than Weeds, which had started to become redundant.

Chicken was Tara’s nickname when she was a kid. I forgot to mention this before. It’s the day of the wedding. The wedding is happening in their backyard. Tara is being difficult, as usual. She should just be happy and be nice. My guess is that she’ll transition during the ceremony and mess everything up again.

Tara’s parents arrive. It looks like they got some bad news from a doctor. Tara’s dad is acting strange. He tells Tara that they have a brother from his 1st marriage. He also isn’t well, kind of like Tara.

Kate is packing up her stuff. Zack is there. He bought her a penthouse, or something like that. She hasn’t told her that she is moving out. Marsh and Lionel make out some more. Zack meets Lionel and tells him that he’s a Republican. He doesn’t believe in gay marriage. Kate ferries Zack away because of his comments and attitude.

Tara tells Charm about their brother. She wants it to be all about herself again. Tara is the ultimate drama-queen. Charm tries to reason with her. Tara transitions to Chicken to ruin things for Charm. Nick is being an ass to Charm about Tara. Chicken is dancing around, pretending that she’s 5.

It’s time for the ceremony. Chicken is acting out. It’s enough for Nick to walk out of the marriage. His parents are very happy. This is another thing that Tara ruined. While play-fighting with Char, Tara transitions back. She wants to confront her parents immediately, which she does. The whole family is there. Her mom says that their father had a son. His name was Bryce. His mother sent him to them. That’s why they were sent to foster care. Tara is livid that her mom never told her about this. Whatever. Big drama. They don’t know where Bryce is.

Later that night, Neil comes back for Char.
