True Blood Hard-Hearted Hannah S02E06 (HBO)

Beautiful autumnal trees

This series is based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris. It tells the story of how humans and vampires co-exist in a small southern town. Personally, I’ve never read the books, so I don’t know how accurate the adaptation is. However, it is quite interesting. It’s a good twist on the mythos.

There are loads of vampire shows out there. Most recently, Moonlight was canceled from CBS. Some of them are successful, others aren’t. The pilot was interesting. I’ve never seen a show explore the relationship between vampires and humans.

The series is adapted by Alan Ball. He also produced it. Alan Ball is the man behind Six Feet Under. The setting is interesting as well. Thanks to HBO, the show does have some mature content. It makes the whole thing more interesting.

I don’t really know what to say of Anna Paquin’s acting. It seems to me that she played a southern belle already in X-Men as Rogue. She does do the same thing in this show. It’s hard to see the difference. As with her role as Rogue, Sookie has never been in love or had men in her life. It’s funny how you can draw parallels between Paquin’s different characters.

New Orleans and Louisiana are a hotbed for vampire fiction. Lestat of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice makes the city his home.

I was completely blown away by the second episode of the first season. It ends in such a cliffhanger. The third episode partly resolves this, but it was still really good. The sex scenes between Jason and his lovers are also quite interesting. The show is infused with an animalistic fervor which is appealing. I recommend this show. Along with Fringe, this is one of my favorite new shows on TV this season. The show has gotten a lot of great reviews and only ten days after it premiered, HBO ordered another season. It’s one of the few shows who’s audience share actually climbed for the second episode. The fifth episode also ends with a bang, something that I didn’t think would happen.

The third season just premiered on the weekend. It takes off right when the last episode stopped. Things are going to get interesting.

Excellent way to start the 3rd season. The 2nd season was amazing. I just don’t understand how I missed watching the last three episodes of season 2. I remedied that last night. I really enjoyed them.

It’s really interesting to see the twist on the werewolves. We don’t know much about them, but they don’t look friendly to vampires. The maenad or Bacchantes from last season, Maryann, was completely bonkers. I truly enjoyed this episode. I give it an A. I’ll be posting the remainder reviews/recaps of season 2 in the coming days.

Bill used to sing for Lorena in 1926. Lorena has got a French accent in this memory. Lorena seduces a pair of mortals. Bill is Guillaume, another Frenchman. They eat the mortals and torture them before drinking.

Sam asks Daphne what happened to her back. She’s got claw marks. She says that she was slashed in the woods. She was sick afterwards. The doctors told her that she was lucky to be alive. They are talking after having had sex on one of Merlotte’s pool tables.

Mary-Ann is getting pissed at the fact that they don’t have hot water. They have to drive 2 hours to get it. Tara makes a comment about her finding another place to squat. Tara takes Eggs. They are driving along and Eggs recognizes the road they are on. He’s freaking out a bit. He hasn’t been here before, but knows the place. He makes her stop at a diner. Out in the woods, they find something, an old fire and some clothes. Something terrible happened here. There is blood there.

Jason and his buddy Luke are brought to the reverend. They are going to build a platform. They are going to execute a vamp on a cross at a ceremony tonight.

Andy goes to see Lafayette. He makes him freak out. He intimidates him and reminds him of his imprisonment by Eric. Terry is Andy’s cousin and defends Lafayette. He sends Andy away. Everyone knows that the Sheriff took his badge.

Hoyt’s mother canceled his cell phone. She did it because she didn’t want Jessica to call him anymore. He tells her that she’s a vamp and that she needs to reactivate it now.

Sookie and Hugo meet the Newlans. She hears Steve thinking about the vamp that they are going to burn. When Steve is showing them the church, Sookie hears that he knows about her. He’s been told that Sookie can read minds. She isn’t human. Sookie starts to panic a bit. Steve introduces them to Gabe, the training coach for the soldiers. They want to show the cellar to Hugo and Sookie. Sookie is on her guard, but Hugo is being stupid. Steve and Gabe grab them and try to bring them down. Sarah doesn’t want this to happen. As soon as Sookie is in danger, Bill wakes. Lorena is on him and holds him down. Jason comes into the church. He tells Sarah that the platform is completed. He sees that she is crying. She says that her husband isn’t who he was before. Sarah says that Steve is planning on using them to start a war. She tries to kiss him, but he doesn’t let her. She convinces him to have sex in the Church.

Andy sees the pig and runs after it. It was Daphne and Sam playing. She says that pig was his go to shape. Sam says that it was weird that Andy knew her pig-shape. She distracts him with a blow-job.

Pamela pays Lafayette a visit. Eric has a message. He wants Lafayette to sell V again.

Sookie and Eggs come back and find Sookie’s house in a terrible state. There was a mad house party going on here. They hear screams and come upon an orgy. They see Mary-Ann flickering. Everyone is possessed and has black eyes.

Jessica wakes and sees that Hoyt hasn’t texted her. He’s actually at her door. He’s got flowers. They kiss.

Daphne takes Sam to the Mary-Ann orgy party. Actually, as soon as Sam heard the drums, he didn’t want to go, but Daphne just lured him close enough for the possessed to grab him. Daphne places an ox head mask onto Mary-Ann’s head and she starts incanting. Looks like they want to sacrifice Sam.
