White Collar By The Book S02E04 (USA)

The pilot episode of White Collar was most definitely slick and smart, as well as charming, as Matt Bormer will charm the pants off anyone he meets as his suave alter ego Neal Caffrey.

This show most definitely fits in the USA Network’s slew of shows, which include Burn Notice and Royal Pains. It has good pacing and interesting chemistry between Matt Bormer and Tim DeKay, something that isn’t easy to fake. They work well on the screen, there is no denying this.

Basically, Dekay’s Burke is a white collar specialist who put Bormer’s Caffrey away a few years ago. In order to reduce his sentence a bit further, after having escaped a super max jail, Caffrey offers to help Burke to catch the illusive Dutchman, a criminal that Burke has also been chasing for a few years. This setup kind of reminds me of Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can as well as The Sting with Redford and Newman.

What’s also interesting, is that the guys don’t just keep this professional. They also involve their personal lives. Burke needs help to make his hot wife Elizabeth, played by Tiffani Thiessen, happy while Caffrey is searching for his wife that just vanished. All in all, a great show with good actors. I recommend it.

Moz is wearing an ascot for a waitress at a diner named Gina. She’s kind of abducted from her place of work. Moz asks Neal for help.

Neal makes Peter suspicious. He starts checking up on Gina, after Neal asked the new guy at the office to run her name. Navarro is linked to the case. He’s some kind of drug dealer. Neal is spying on Navarro. He almost gets caught. Burke arrives just in time before things get ugly.

Moz has to go to the Bureau. Gina’s ex-boyfriend is a driver for Navarro. They get a hit on Gina’s credit card. It leads them to Central Park. They subpoena footage from tourists to find Gina. She was meeting with Tommy. She signalled him to leave. He dumped his phone. On his phone, they hear that if Tommy doesn’t give the money back, this is the money that he took from Navarro, Gina is dead.

Navarro wants that $100K because they are sequential bills, which can be traced back to him and his ops. Caffrey and Moz get Tommy’s new ID, Sam Brennan. Burke and Diana get him.

When Tommy backs out for the sting, Moz steps in. He leaves a message for Neal. Burke figures it out and talk about the perfect exchange.

Burke figures out that Navarro will take out Moz after he stashes a weapon at the exchange place. Burke calls in the cavalry and goes in to save Moz and Gina.

Gina is going to California.
