I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.

Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.

So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

Warning: spoilers ahead

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.

Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.

ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.

Castle has a gun and is running away from the cops. Beckett corners him and wants him to put the gun down. He doesn’t and they shoot.

3 days earlier, Beckett hasn’t received word from Castle. He said that he would be back in the fall. A girl named Chloe Witman was shot a few times and fell down a building.

He really is ruggedly handsome.

Castle is back in town but hasn’t contacted the cops. The vic had an address in her hands. They check it out and find an open door. They find Castle there with a gun in his hands. Beckett has to arrest him. Castle is dating his 2nd ex-wife and publisher. He says that Maya called him. When he heard noises, he grabbed the gun because he thought the killers were coming back. The bullets don’t match the gun that was found in his hand. Beckett sends Castle home.

The bullets that killed the two victims came from the same gun. Castle insinuates himself into the investigation. He goes back to Maya’s trashed studio. Laney says that both of the victims had tattoos. She had #227 on her hand.

From the phone records, the victims received calls from Tom McCutchison. They go to the place and find Castle there. He *69 Maya’s phone and found his way here. The body has been dead for hours. The victims were connected. There is some evidence from one murder in the other scene.

Todd’s fiancée arrives. He borrowed some money from a loan shark. He recently paid back all of it. Two weeks ago, money appeared in all of the accounts on the 7th. They were spending it at the same place, KCBC. This leads them to an underground club. This place is like the circus with alcohol. Beckett isn’t impressed. The bartender points them towards Kitty Canari. They were part of her troupe. Couple of weeks ago, Evan, Chloe’s boyfriend, came to the club and wanted her to stop dancing. It got pretty rough. Maya and Todd stopped him. They talk with Evan. From the club’s mailing list, they get a hit. Maya knew him. His name is Xander Doyle. She made a sculpture of him. She came to see Doyle to borrow a gun. She saw what happened to Todd and armed herself. Xander says that Maya was cooking meth. One of them was a high school chemistry teacher. They find the murder weapon at Evan’s place. He lawyers up. Laney says that they had chemicals on their clothes, but they weren’t cooking meth. Castle figures out something. They were counterfeiting money, pre-1998.

Kitty and her husband are the killers. They are trying to leave with the plates. Castle saves Beckett from the husband. Kitty escapes. Beckett gives Castle a gun. He runs after Kitty and in the alley, when they had their guns drawn, Beckett was aiming for the husband and Castle was aiming at Kitty. Kitty and her hubbie were behind Castle and Beckett.

Todd was getting squeezed by the loan shark to turn over the counterfeiting operation. Maya and Chloe were willing, but Kitty wasn’t.

Castle is back in.
