The Mentalist Bloodsport S03E11 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Rigsby is at some MMA fight with a date. She’s really into it. Some cleaning woman finds a trail of blood at the arena.  She finds a dead body.

Charlotte Mitchell was her name. She was a writer. She was writing a book about the fight. She was shot twice. She was shot at 8:39PM. How does the ME know the exact minute that she died?

They question the fighters, including Manny. The gun that was used to kill Charlotte was used in another murder in 2001. The killer was Joe Reyes. Van Pelt tells Lisbon that Mr. Laroche is interviewing Rigsby. Rigsby’s dad was a biker in a gang. He’s got a long sheet. Lisbon walks in to interrupt the interrogation.

Reyes gave the gun to Dawn May in 2001. He hasn’t talked to her since. Jane and Lisbon go see Tom Mitchell, Charlotte’s dad. He has a heart attack while viewing some footage of Charlotte. Charlotte was looking into fight fixing. They go see the promoter. Manny’s old trainer says that there’s more to Manny than meets the eye.

Dawn says that she gave the gun to her cousin, who died in Iraq. She was at a PTA meeting when Charlotte was killed.

Laroche continues to question Rigsby. He is on a witch hunt.

Mitchell was at the arena an hour before she was killed. This means that both fighters are suspects. There is a scuffle when they arrive at the station. Manny’s current trainer says that Merryman gets violent when he doesn’t get what he wants. He didn’t get what he wanted from Charlotte. Merryman says that Manny was screwing Charlotte. Manny’s wife tells Lisbon that he was screwing Charlotte. The wife says that she should talk with Floyd Benton, the old trainer. He doped his young fighters. He doesn’t deny steroid use.

Reyes comes to the station. He lied about something. He did see Dawn. He says that Dawn didn’t give the gun to Bobby. He tells Rigsby what she did with the gun. They go see some guy named Lopez. He says that he lost the gun in some club 4 years ago. Rigsby tells Cho about his dad. He alibied his dad. He involved Cho in his lies.

Jane tells Artash and Floyd that Charlotte wrote something in their notebook in code. Her father will know what this is about.

Cho served in the Special Forces. Laroche is questioning him. Rigsby provided an alibi to his father that kept him out of jail. Cho lies for Rigsby.

They are running a trap at the hospital. Reyes arrives to see Mitchell. Someone uses Reyes as a distraction. It’s Manny’s current trainer. Lisbon arrests Lima. He’s got the gun on him as well. The gun came from Artash. He owned the club where Lopez lost the gun. He gave it to Lima. They arrest him as well.

Charlotte figured out that Artash and Lima switched out the blood samples. Manny’s sample indicated that he was severely injured before the fight. Charlotte tried to persuade Lima and Artash to stop the fight. Lima shot her.
