The Mentalist Bloodhounds S03E12 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The crew is at a junkyard. They found an unidentified female. Jane lets loose a dog to find another body. The 2nd victim is Valerie Beston. The 1st victim hasn’t been ID yet. Both were bludgeoned and dumped in a similar fashion. The murders were flagged as similar to the ones killed by The Caveman. He’s been silent for a decade. Some science geek is here to run a predictive model. She’s a decision science consultant. Valerie was the director at Agile Turtle. She was convicted for hitting a homeless guy. She felt very guilty about this. She volunteered at a homeless shelter near her work. They find Rigsby there with the geek.

Cho and Rigsby find the van that was at the salvage yard. The woman had the dead woman’s bracelet. They take the man into custody. He admits to taking her jewellery. He isn’t the killer. Lisbon receives a kidney from the Caveman. He also sent a bad poem. This fits his MO. Why is the geek doing the press release?

The 1st vic is Fernanda Tanent. Her cousins reported her missing a week ago. Jane figures out how Valerie and Fernanda knew each other. They took the same bus. The homeless shelter director has been phoning Valerie a lot. Van Pelt and Cho question him again. He admits to screwing homeless women. His movement patterns match the Caveman killings. They take him in.

Jane finds the woman who knit some of the clothing of the victims. Van Pelt finds Mercer, some dude using an alias. He’s the bus driver.

Jane kicks the hornet’s nest and the bus driver tries to do a runner. Lisbon and Rigsby arrive to take him into custody.

Jane admits to Lisbon that he wrote the Caveman letter to mess with Montagu. Rigsby asks Montagu out. After the date, she tells him that they have only a 20% chance of having a successful relationship. She doesn’t need to run an analysis to find out that Rigsby is still in love with someone else.

They run some sting op to arrest the cousins at the bottling plant. Their natural soda isn’t really natural. It killed some homeless guy named Marty. They gave the bottles to Fernanda, who gave them to Valerie to give to the homeless shelter. Fernanda figured it out and told them that they had to issue a massive recall. Then they killed their own cousin. Valerie showed up a week later, and they had to kill her too.
