I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.

Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.

So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

Warning: spoilers ahead

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.

Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.

ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.

Mr. Hixton was found killed. He was a lottery winner. He was killed last night. He was shot with a 9mm. There is a .357 magnum next to his body. There was $100K in his safe. The butler says that the gun doesn’t belong to Hixton. There was a dye pack in the money bag. He was divorced with a teenage daughter.

The ex-wife says that the money was like poison. The daughter got hooked on drugs. They got her clean and then he started to use his money for good. Hixton called her from the soup kitchen to cancel their date. He was disturbed about something.

They go to the soup kitchen. Hixton started to give away $100 bills at the kitchen. There was someone hanging around yesterday. He went to see Hixton when he arrived. Then, they left. This was 6 hours before he was killed.

The serial numbers were filed off from the .357 magnum. Todd Shipley’s prints were found on the bag. They find him and he is covered in dye. He says that he met Hixton in the lobby at 11PM. His car had been taken. They clear Shipley.

Martha finds out that Chet left her a million dollars.

They Bolo the Escalade. The killer is making a run for it through a tunnel. Sean York was caught driving the car.

While you guys are fantasizing about the size of your rods, I will go interrogate the suspect.

They haven’t found the money yet. Sean says that Hixton gave him his car. Hixton signed over the car to him to give him a second chance. This checks out.

Money just magnifies your personality.

Ryan found Hixton’s photo in his car. There are surveillance photos on it.

Hixton wrote two 10,000-dollar checks to Logan Meech, a low-rent con man with a violent streak. He conned him to provide money for his ‘relief’ organization. Hixton visited him last night. He wanted a gun for protection. He was scared of his past.

Greg and Ty Page’s prints were found in Hixton’s apartment. They robbed him after he won the lottery. It was his testimony that put them away. They were released and on the hunt.

Beckett, Esposito, Ryan, and Castle are on a stakeout.

Then I realized the only luxury I truly care about is freedom. Freedom to write, spend time with Alexis… Having that money just allows me to live life on my terms.

The Page brothers are recording some tracks. The have $60K. They tell them that Hixton called them to help with his daughter Nicole. She was using again. Hixton wanted them to deal with Nicole’s dealer. It’s the guy that Hixton had under surveillance. They jumped him, put him in their trunk, and beat him. They told him to stay away from Nicole. After that, they came here and were recording tracks.

There is a loud bang. The Page brothers’ car exploded. It’s Oz.

They question Nicole. She admits to using and that her dealer is a whacko. Oz is Marvin Oz Buckowski. Oz operates off grid.

Beckett and Castle go undercover in a club with Castle’s F430 Spyder. They are trying to get Oz. Beckett looks pretty hot. She finds Oz easily. They arrest him.

Oz says that he planned on visiting Hixton, but he ran into the butler, so he changed his plans. Easley is a thief. That’s what his former employers say. They go back to Hixton’s place and find him packing up some stuff. Easley says that Hixton told them that Hixton stole the ticket.

The neighbour was Hank Walters. He died the day the winning numbers were announced. Two days later, Hixton claimed the 117 million dollars. Walters’ only living relative is his nephew. He lives in NYC. He tells them that Walters had a stepson. It’s Sean York.

York went to confront Hixton. Hixton wasn’t going to give him the money. Hixton grabbed the gun and it went off.

Martha is going to open an acting school.
