Fresh on the heels of the boring Twilight craze, and the well-deserved True Blood phase, CW is offering up its latest in teen dramas. Apparently, this show drew 5 million viewers its first night. That’s probably due to Twilight-hype. I can’t stand Twilight. It sucks ass. I couldn’t read the books, but read a review from Dan Bergstein on those Stephanie Meyer books. It was very entertaining. The movie kind of sucked as well.

This is the situation, as I’ve divined it using my psychic powers. The Fox network saw that Twilight was really working well. Wow, maybe vamps are cool again, said one exec. Another said, maybe not, remember Forever Knight. Then, everyone went bonkers for True Blood. The same exec said it confirmed his theory that vamps are back in, notably teen vamps, not crazy sex-addicted vamps. One exec mentioned Teen Wolf, the other slapped him on the back of the head.

So, we need to find a teen vampire series. Wait, my daughter used to read some vampire thingie called The Vampire Diaries in the 90s. Let’s pressure L. J. Smith to write some sequels as an added incentive. That will make it cool!

Warning: spoilers ahead

I’ll admit that the whole Petrova doppelganger is somewhat interesting, but the whole Sun/Moon curse thing that was laid onto them by some Shaman is idiotic. That and the fact that some original vampires are around, messing about. Elijah isn’t impressive as an original. He’s a bit of letdown, to be honest. Smith should have taken some inspiration in vampire fiction and used some of those concepts in his own story.

Elena is reading the Gilbert journals. After they got rid of the vampires, more vampires showed up. Stefan is the one that killed his wife and other family members. Stefan doesn’t hide it from Elena. Back then, Damon was the rational one.

Stefan met Alexi Branson back then. He was on a killing spree. Lexi helped him change that. She finds a reference to the dagger and the ash. It says that only humans can brandish it. If a vampire holds it, it will kill them.

Damon tells Stefan that Ty ran away from home.

Jenna is showing Elijah around. Alaric arrives to tag along.

Bonnie, Jeremy, and Luka meet up. Luka is pissed because he knows that Bonnie messed with his mind.

Damon brings Katherine some blood. She was completely desiccated. She doesn’t want Elijah dead, or she would be stuck in here forever. It turns out that the dagger with the ash will do the trick on Elijah.

Alaric, Elijah, Jenna, Andy, and Damon have a dinner party. Damon has some plans. He tips the dagger in the ash. John arrives.

Stefan calls Alaric to warn Damon. Damon finds out that Elijah is looking for a witch burial ground. Alaric manages to warn Damon in time. They work some magic and Alaric uses the dagger on Elijah. Elijah is dead. That was cool.

Elena discovers that the dagger needed to stay in place for Elijah to remain dead. This isn’t what they did back at the house. They immediately removed it. Elijah is still alive. He’s escaped.

Elijah goes to find Marten. He wants Elena found. Marten goes to find Bonnie. He puts some curse on Bonnie and immobilizes Jeremy. He probably took her powers away. Yep, that’s affirmative.

Elijah arrives at the lake house. Elena has got a plan. She plans on stabbing herself. Then, Stefan will heal her. Then she will kill herself. She will turn into a vampire. That’s what she tells Elijah. He calls her bluff. Elena stabs herself. Elijah can’t enter the house. He’s powerless to stop Elena from dying. He promises that her friends and family will be safe. She goes into his arms and plunges the dagger into him. He’s incapacitated. Damon came to the lake house with the dagger. It was part of their plan.

John manages to break up Alaric and Jenna with a few words. John is right there to gloat. John wants the ring back. Alaric gives it back to him.

Damon comes back to his house and finds Katherine taking a shower. She tricked him into freeing her. She says that she is here to help him.
