Castle Slice of Death S03E20 (ABC)

I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.

Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.

So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

Warning: spoilers ahead

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.

Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.

ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.

Authentic Nick discovers a man cooking in his oven.

Alexis got dis-invited from a big party.

The stiff was stabbed through the chest, so he was dead before. Authentic Nick has got a lot of rivals. They are called Terrific Nick, Terrific Authentic Nick, and Authentic Terrific Nick.

The dead guy is Gordon Burns from the NY Ledger. He was a war correspondent, an investigative reporter. They talk with his boss. The boss says that since his kid died, he wasn’t the same. He was assigned a piece of the pizza wars. His place has been tossed.

They found Terrific Authentic Nick’s prints all over the oven. They question him. He accuses Authentic Nick of laundering money for the mob. There were some FBI investigations into his activities, but they didn’t pan out.

One of the neighbors saw Burns arguing with Authentic Terrific Nick. They question him.

They find out where Nick was hiding out. He was hiding at the Hotel Beta under a fake name. They find his laptop. They find out that Burns was meeting last night with Monica Wyatt. She dated him 3 years ago. He didn’t show up on their date last night.

Alexis tried to crash the party. Lauren ended up kissing Ashley. It’s all over the internet. Castle asks Ryan to help out.

Beckett went to the hall of records. Burns went there recently. He requested files on Harley Romero. He died a year ago. He was shot a dozen times, put in a oil drum and set on fire.

Burns’ ATM card was used last night at 11:15PM. They see the footage and see him writing something. Someone comes in with a knife and grabs. It’s Harley Romero and he’s alive.

They question his editor again. He says that the only heroin story that Burns chased was one about a high-end distribution ring in NYC that sets up shop inside legitimate businesses. They used names from film noir. Cavallo was behind the ring. Cavallo is a street myth. The editor says that Cavallo is real. Cavallo was mentored by a Columbian drug lord. Then, he took over and slit his children’s throat. The editor says that Cavallo is responsible for killing Burns’ daughter.

Castle thinks that Romero is using the Cavallo myth to his own advantage. They are able to find out what Burns was writing on the video. It’s an address. It leads them to a heroin processing operation.

Alexis has got a bruise on her face from Lauren. It escalated and Alexis punched Lauren.

They find Burns’ phone and have photos of Monica outside the processing house. They find Cavallo fleeing the scene. Burns was dating Monica to get closer to Cavallo. Her real estate business was a perfect cover to give the druggies mobile labs for their junk. She had problems years ago, but a man came to see her. She says that it wasn’t Cavallo who tried to kill her, but his right hand man, Harley.

Cavallo is using one of the pizza places to distribute his dope. It’s Terrific Authentic Nick’s. They question him again. Sal says that Romero wanted to put something in his oven overnight. He refused. It ended up in Ralph’s oven. Sal says that he calls Romero to get his product. They run a sting and get him.

They figure out that Monica is Cavallo. She was about to walk out when they catch him. She used her real estate business to launder her millions from her heroin operation.
