I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.
Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.
So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.
Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.
ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.
The fourth season just started and needless to say that Beckett is still alive, although she’s different. The precinct is different too, thanks to a new female Captain. Breckett was incommunicado for a while, but when she comes back she’s surprised to learn that the investigation was shut down by Gates and that it made no progress. Castle helps her out, and they are warned by a man who received Montgomery’s files to stop investigating Beckett’s mother’s murder. It doesn’t stop Castle from continuing the investigation on his own.

A woman is running away from some dude. He pounces on her. An older man chops off his hand with a katana when he takes out a gun and then slices him in two.
Beckett and Castle are called to the case. The witness is talking much because the killer saved her. They talk with Ferris’ mom.
Ferris got into an argument with a bodega owner Tony the Butcher. He’s a made man. Or was. They question Tony. He sacked him and Faris thought that he was owed some backpay. Tony says that he was attacked by some nut job vigilante. The guy had a sword and carved an L into his bum. Tony has cameras in his warehouse. He caught him on video. The vigilante is dressed up like a superhero. It’s a custom-made costume, not one from comic-books.
I plan to melt Captain Permafrost by solving this case.
Castle
Castle goes to some famous comic-book shop. They find out that the superhero is Lone Vengeance, an online comic only. The writer’s name is Sean Elt. Castle spots something from the crime scene. There were some knuckle plates, identical to those worn by Lone Vengeance, on the ground.
Ryan and Esposito find someone who just bought a katana from a pawn shop. Becket and Castle find the knuckle plate, but Lone Vengeance takes it away, then parkours his way to an awaiting crotch rocket. There was a partial print on it.
Esposito calls and says that their mystery man paid for the katana with a check. His name is Chad Hockney. His costume doesn’t match the one of the person who attacked him. He says that he isn’t the real Lone Vengeance. Chad is Red Maroon.
Alex plans on taking all of Ashley’s classes at Stanford. Castle tells her that she needs to decide what she wants to do. Ashley is an economics major.
The panels of the comic-book emulate what the real Lone Vengeance. They came out after the fact. Sean Elt is an alias. It’s an anagram for Stan Lee.
There are two more incidents that match real ones.
Castle thinks that Sean Elt knew Faris. The mom says that she read Lone Vengeance. The mom says that Ferris met a nicely dressed man with a beard.
Their suspect is Paul Whittaker, a reporter that was at the crime scene. Faris threatened to reveal Whittaker’s identity. Ferris called Whittaker. Faris was a paid informer.
Whittaker tries to unload his back issues at a comic book shop, and they get him. He confesses. Castle doesn’t think that he’s the killer. Paul is protecting the real killer. He just wrote and drew the comic-book.
They think that they found the place where Lone Vengeance is hanging out. It’s some abandoned building. Lone Vengeance is Officer Hastings. Her dad died in a burglary. Whittaker is in love with her. She says that she didn’t kill Faris. She took the disc from the crime scene. She had a friend run the print at the crime lab. Hastings says that Ferris was a creature of habit. The killer knew this and he was waiting.
They think that someone copied Lone Vengeance to murder Faris. Faris approached him to tip him of. Lone Vengeance was attacking his crew and messing up his operation. He thought about a way to take care of both problems was to pose as Lone Vengeance and kill Faris. His cousin Ernesto made a Lone Vengeance costume for him. They have his partial print as well.
Gates lets Hastings off the hook.
