It took some time, but I’m glad that we managed to see Terra Nova. The pilot had been delayed for a while, ever since last May. I didn’t expect much, since I don’t really keep apprised of the latest TV news, but I was happily surprised with the pilot. The setting is quite interesting. While the future 2149 setting isn’t really that important, it set the mood nicely. It was a sort of Big Brother-like future, where people weren’t allowed to have many children and the Earth was becoming non-sustainable for human life. The time fracture, opening 85 million years into the past, allows different pilgrimages to settle in healthy biosphere, but populated by dinosaurs. I like the fact that this isn’t the same timeline as before. They entered another worldine, which is the only way that this could make sense.
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This wasn’t a bad episode, but a bit slow compared to the pilot. The colony has to survive the attack of terrorsaurs. The colony was actually built on the spawning grounds of the terrorsaurs, and they are migrating towards it.

A rover on a delivery gets a flat. There are some creatures in the trees coming for them.
The children are learning basic survival skills. Josh is still being punished for his escapades with Skye. Jim and Elizabeth get to spend the night in their bed. Zoe is in Maddy’s room. They hear some strange cries from outside. Some creature is out there. Elizabeth makes Jim check it out. It’s some kind of bird-like dinosaur. When he comes back, Zoe is back in their bed.
The next day, Taylor wants to check out the missing rover. Elizabeth meets one of her old uni pals, who’s chief science officer.
Taylor wants Shannon to find who the mole inside Terra Nova is. The soldiers are dead. It looks like they were pecked to death.
While Jim examines the body, he finds a talon. It’s some new animal. The necropsy doesn’t turn up new information. It’s unknown. Elisabeth is still surprised that she ran into Malcolm. Jim guessed that his wife dated Malcolm.
When they go to bed, the same bird-like dino is back. Now, there are 3 of them. They attack. They are quite aggressive. The marks on Jim’s arm match the ones on the dead men. They are some kind of terrosaurs.
Jim realizes that Malcolm requested Elisabeth for the pilgrimage. He’s trying to seduce her.
Skye notices that the terrorsaurs are flocking. They run. There are a lot of them. They attack. They have no fatalities. Jim sees Malcolm salvages a body. He says that the terrorsaurs are migrating. He says that today was just the first wave. There are a lot more coming. This is because the migration might be species-wide. They check the aerial balloons and see that there are millions of them.
A few years bag, they dug down and found a lot of eggshells. THis means that the terrosaurs were hatched here. They’ve come back to spawn. They built Terra Nova on the breeding grounds.
They need a female and male specimen. Shannon goes out with Washington. He also confronts Malcolm about his dealings with the recruitment requests.
They discover that the terrorsaurs are attracted to pheromones. They might be able to lure them away.
They synthesize the pheromone and are able to lead the terrorsaurs to new spawning grounds.
