Castle Cops & Robbers S04E07 (ABC)

I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.

Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.

So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.

Warning: spoilers ahead

The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.

Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.

ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.

The fourth season just started and needless to say that Beckett is still alive, although she’s different. The precinct is different too, thanks to a new female Captain. Breckett was incommunicado for a while, but when she comes back she’s surprised to learn that the investigation was shut down by Gates and that it made no progress. Castle helps her out, and they are warned by a man who received Montgomery’s files to stop investigating Beckett’s mother’s murder. It doesn’t stop Castle from continuing the investigation on his own.

This whole unrequited love between Beckett and Castle is getting a bit old. It reminds me of Bones and Booth in Bones. When will they get it on? Anyway, I don’t like episodes about hostage situations. They end up always being the same, except in a few movies. This one has a little twist, but it’s still a bit annoying. Still, you didn’t expect it to be about some lady who faked her death.

Martha is trying to get a loan to fix up the studio. The bank gets robbed while Castle is talking to Beckett. They are dressed up in scrubs and use code names. Beckett called in the cavalry, but it looks like the robbers were trained and prepared for a hostage situation.

Beckett is on the sidelines. The robber in charge wants to talk to Beckett again because she talked to him once before. After the first call, it’s obvious that they are pros. It looks like the robbers wanted the cops to arrive.

It’s not looking good for the hostages if they storm the bank. The walls are too thick to drill and the cameras are dead. The robbers are going after some safety deposit boxes. Trapper John had a key and used the manager’s key to access it. They are after Box 120.

Trapper John wants a bus with tinted windows, a plane ready to go in order to release the preggers teller. Castle uses his mother’s bracelet to send the info to Beckett. It belongs Agnes and Gideon Fields. They both access the box monthly. A hostage spots a duffel bag filled C4 and timers.

Gideon Fields died 4 months ago. Agnes is dead. Ryan and Esposito find her. She’s been dead a week. She died by being strangled. The key was taken from her.

One of the hostages has a grand mal seizure. He’s got epilepsy. One of the robbers has got an Israeli accent. Trapper John calls Beckett. He wants an EMT. Beckett goes in as the paramedic. Castle gives Beckett a message about the C4.

Castle starts talking with the lead robber. He’s figured out that they are hired mercs.

The robbed detonate the C4. The hostages are in the vault. ESU believes that it was detonated prematurely and that the robbers killed themselves trying to get away.

Ron Brant is Agnes’ son-in-law. He was one of the hostages. He is the one who had a seizure. He’s gone. Ron Brant has military connections, that’s why he was able to hire the mercs. He must have messed with the detonators. Brant was divorced. His wife and son faked their deaths. The safety deposit was a dropbox between Tanya and her mom Agnes. Tanya uses a middleman. Ron must have suspected that his ex-wife faked her death, that’s why he bugged Agnes’ house.

They trace Tanya’s middleman. He’s her priest.

Ron already found his wife and his son. He tries to shoot her, but tells her that she will never see her son again. The cops get them.

Even as a hostage I helped you solve murders.

Alexis breaks up with Ashley.
