I’ve been a Nathan Fillion fan for quite a while. Ever since Firefly, I was really impressed by his acting. Since he is starring in a new series named Castle, I took it upon myself to watch it weekly.
Anyway, what do I like about Castle? Well it stars an obnoxious, womanizing novelist. Detective Kate Beckett is a closet hottie, played by Stana Katic. Her hotness is kind of hard to explain. The actress is quite hot, but in Castle, she toned it down. She doesn’t wear much makeup and favors a natural look, kind of like “Oh I’m hot, but I could be the girl next door, BTW, FYI, I’m still smoking hot.” That’s how I described her in my mind. She’s kind of got the ex-catwalk model look going for her, which is quite good.
So that’s a good point. Plus she’s Canadian and a good actress. That’s always a good combination.
Warning: spoilers ahead
The show centers around a novelist who is brought in to help deal with a string of murders which seem to be taken from the pages of his novels. At the same time, Castle has hit massive writer’s block after killing off the hero of his mystery book franchise, Derek Storm. Through Beckett, he is able to write once again.
Halfway between a drama and a romantic comedy, Castle is a fun show to watch. The characters play around a lot, making the viewer wonder when or if they will ever get together. It didn’t take Castle long to find out what makes Beckett tick. He uses clues and his imagination deftly.
ABC has started to release chapters of Richard Castle’s new book Heat Wave on its website. They are up to chapter 8 and I haven’t started yet, but it’s a pretty cool tie-in to the show.
The fourth season just started and needless to say that Beckett is still alive, although she’s different. The precinct is different too, thanks to a new female Captain. Breckett was incommunicado for a while, but when she comes back she’s surprised to learn that the investigation was shut down by Gates and that it made no progress. Castle helps her out, and they are warned by a man who received Montgomery’s files to stop investigating Beckett’s mother’s murder. It doesn’t stop Castle from continuing the investigation on his own.
This whole unrequited love between Beckett and Castle is getting a bit old. It reminds me of Bones and Booth in Bones. When will they get it on? Anyway, I don’t like episodes about hostage situations. They end up always being the same, except in a few movies. This one has a little twist, but it’s still a bit annoying. Still, you didn’t expect it to be about some lady who faked her death.

Castle is dressed up as Elvis and about to meet someone unpleasant.
The story starts 16 hours earlier. Alex is in a funk because she broke up with Ashley.
The vic is Sam Siegal, the winner of a casino from Atlantic City. He had a .357 Magnum in the glove box with all 6 shots in it. Esposito broke up with Laney.
He went to his ex-wife’s place before he died. They argued. He said that he was in trouble. He wanted her to sign over some property. He said that his life depended on it. He offered her full price for her half of it. Sam paid cash for it a year and a half ago.
Sam left the casino with a driver, who’s missing. They are looking for Ralph Marino.
The Captain sends Castle to Atlantic City with Esposito and Ryan. Ryan had to ask Jenny’s half-brother Nelson to be his best man.
The Captain keeps implying that Castle is a distraction for Beckett. Sam’s business partner says that Marino had a scuffle with Sam a week ago. Ralph was hiding at his cousin’s place. Beckett picks him up.
He says that Sam met with someone in a black SUV when he left Sam in the Hummer.
Turner popped Sam one in the face yesterday as well. Sam wired $10 million out of the casino’s account yesterday. Sam denied transferring it out. Turner has got an alibi.
Sam didn’t make the transfer. He was screwing his massage therapist. Nadine booked the appointment. Her parents run the bodega on the ground floor of the building. She’s trying to make a run for it, but gets abducted.
Nadine is the one who transferred the money. Turner throws them out after they question him again. They dress up as Elvis impersonators to get back into the casino.
Nadine called Daniel, the security guy, after and before making the transfer.
Alex’s girl’s night turns out in a house party. It goes viral. Alex throws everyone out when it goes out of hand.
The guys go to see Daniel. He says that they were using it as leverage to get Sam to hand over the building. He is dating Nadine. Sam keeps her here. She wanted to leave a year ago. That’s when Sam bought her parents’ building and threatened to evict her parents.
Sam told Daniel that they stole the wrong person’s money and they were in trouble.
The security guys take Castle to see Turner, who’s waiting for him with a baseball bat. The money is from the mob. They took out a loan from the mob.
Beckett arrives in town. Castle says that Tommy Moretti is the killer. He lent the Sapphire the $10 million.
They use Daniel to secure a meeting with Moretti to hand over the money. They show Daniel that Nadine is safe. He wires over the money. They release Nadine.
Moretti says that he arranged a meeting for Sam. Sam told him about the blackmail. He gave him the extra time when he saw that the wife signed over the building. They find the deed in the ex-wife’s trash. He got her signature by coercing her with a gun. She took her .38 and hunted him down.
