It’s fitting that this show will premiere on Fox, since this was the network of the X-Files. Fringe has got much in common with the X-Files, yet it is different. Fringe is the latest show of wunderkind J.J. Abrams. Like most new shows, the pilot was leaked on the internet a few weeks ago.

Just like a few other shows, like True Blood, I’m happily surprised by Fringe. The production values are great and I’m enjoying it a lot. A lot of money has been pumped into this show, and it just looks fabulous. The protagonists are also an interesting bunch. There isn’t much more that we learn of the Pattern, but Massive Dynamics is most definitely deeply connected with those events, even though they aren’t sharing their information with Agent Dunham.

I think that this show takes a few common elements from Alias, especially for all the things that concerned the mystic scholar Milo Rambaldi. The same kind of esoteric science is involved in this show. It’s done very well. I’d actually like to see this type of mystic science have more of an impact on the show. It would suit the show very well. A bit of the supernatural wouldn’t be bad either.

Warning: spoilers ahead

Fringe is one of the best shows on TV right now. It’s getting better and better, and I like it maybe a bit more than X-Files. Why? There are less filler episodes. Most episodes deal with the mythology of the show.

Peter is about to arrive back into this world. The trouble is that he’s not supposed to be here and no one recognizes him.

It’s just before 6AM and Olivia is sleeping. There is a light outside her window. Something shimmery appears. When her alarm sounds and she sees it, she takes her gun. Then, she realizes that she woke up just before her alarm.

Walter is looking for a way to capture Peter’s presence. She tells Walter about the energy field levitating above her heard. She shows him where it touched her. Her skin is burned.

Walter finds a letter from St-Claire’s in Olivia’s jacket pocket. It recommends further hospitalization at St-Claire’s. While they get some redounds from Olivia’s apartment, the anomaly appears again. It seems to magnetize small metallic objects.

The code for this week is RESET.

It reminds Walter of an astral-projecting boy part of the Cortexiphan trials. He remembers him only as Subject 9. Walter dislikes Nina quite a lot. They go to Massive Dynamic to find out more about the trials. His name is Cameron James.

When they get back, Walter is ready to leave the lab. Apparently, he has never left the lab in three years. They arrive in NYC. It’s a bit much for Walter.

Olivia decides to break into Cameron James’ place. They find out that his new name is Mark Little. Walter strangely flirts with the neighbor.

They have to stay in a hotel. This is also a new experience for Walter. He hasn’t used a hotel in over 20 years. Olivia goes to her room and hears something strange. He’s having a fit. He dug his nails into his hands. They were bleeding. He says that Elizabeth committed suicide after Peter died.

They have a root beer float. He talks about the letter he found from St-Claire’s. There is another apparition. Olivia shoots the window and gets Walter out of there. The apparition is going for Olivia. A car appears and drives into it. It closes.

Dunham takes control of the investigation and then they go to see James. She has Walter wait outside with her cellphone. Olivia goes up to see him. He does a runner when she asks about Cameron James. He runs into Walter on the ground floor. He says that anytime he has an anxiety attack, he sends metal flying. James recognizes Olivia and calls her Olive. He never changed his name. His father used his own name to get Mark into the program so that he could use the money for himself.

While they are talking, another apparition appears. It comes for them, but Cameron stops it. Walter thinks that the disturbances are the results of time distortions. Walter thinks that Cameron can help them stop the distortions, using his abilities. They go to a power grid.

Cameron tells Olivia that she might be bringing this upon herself. It might be her own abilities manifesting. The apparition comes. It’s Peter. Olivia tries to stop Cameron from destroying the apparition. It dissipates. Peter appears naked in Reiden Lake. An Observer is watching.

Walter uses Olivia’s unexplainable and irrational behavior to justify his looniness.

Broyles calls Dunham about some guy popping into Reiden Lake. The man claims to know everyone of them and he knows some classified information.

They go to see him. The man wants to see Olivia. Walter finds out from the letter that Olivia won’t recommend to have him committed.

Peter sees Olivia but she doesn’t recognize him at all.
