This week, I got to 1,000 km on Tuesday, so it was time for the first service. Actually, it was more around 950 km, but I wanted to get it ready for the weekend. The oil change was expensive, at about $30 each 1L bottle, and the Beast needs 4. I think I was overcharged for the oil filter, but I wanted to get the service done at the dealer. I also wanted to check the oil filter’s shape, to see if it had collapsed, something that was mentioned by some owners. It hadn’t, but the total was a bit surprising ($181 US).
Carbon fiber is a wondrous material, and I’d love to have it all over my tech, but it can get expensive quickly. That’s one of the reasons why a new company has decided to make this durable material available in cases and wallets.
Leonard Carson had been toying with the idea of combining carbon fiber with stormtrooper armor for some time. He managed to convince three of his co-workers join his cause and this is the result. I have to say that these carbon troopers look quite impressive.
iPad cases are a dime a dozen, but this one is made out of carbon fiber, a material known for its extreme lightness and cool looks. It’s often used in race cars and bicycles, so why not use it for a portable device case for the iPad? The only problem is the price: 200 clams for a case? I don’t know.
New photos of the Colnago C150 have surfaced. It’s a pretty frame. To be honest, to commemorate the Italian Unification, I would have opted for Campagnolo’s new electronic shifting group. Granted, only a few teams in the pro peloton have it, but it could have made it pretty exclusive.
I’ve been asked a few times about OEM frames. Recently, I’ve come in contact with a factory from China who’s looking to sell their OEM frames. They have one carbon road bike available that’s a monocoque frame. The weave is either 3K or 12K. The finish is a raw carbon clear coating. Overall weight for a 54cm us 1,175g.

We’re getting ready to order a bunch of new frames, especially the Colnago C59 Italia and the TIME RXR-S Ulteam. If you’re considering a purchase, let us know. Frames will be delivered in about a month or, depending on what the order status is.
This is one of the last frames that we ordered before the cutoff for the 2010 models. It took a while for us to get it, but it looked really good. It was sent off to Singapore and received by the client.
I saw a Taiwanese Pinarello Prince frame. It’s the same frame as the legendary Prince, but without the same paintjob. These are made in Taiwan at the same factory. I wasn’t impressed with the overall finish of this demo frame, but since the customer can decide on what they want, that makes up for it.
