For many home owners and apartment dwellers, a living room home office can be a necessity, especially when more than one person needs a workstation. While some people frown at integrating an office area in a living room, something that traditionally is reserved for family, others find a balance between work and leisure. Chris’ home office living room has got wonderful tones and windows, that set it apart from others we’ve seen.
Having a multi-functional home office is always a bonus, especially when it can be used as a guest room, living room, and also an office for two. This usually requires space, which is why Garrett Murray turned his master bedroom into a home office for two. The added square footage allowed him to make an expansive setup, for both himself and his wife.
Living room home offices might sound less than ideal (no separation of work and relaxation), but they’re often necessary you’re a small space dweller. It is in fact a setup we have in our own home right now; we had to get rid of a lot of stuff and make some serious compromises to get it up and working (no TV). Depending on how much space you have available in your home, you might not have enough room for more than one workstation in your home office. Even if you do, when more than one person is working from home, it makes sense to have different places to work in order to vary your routine. Establishing a workstation in the living room is something that is needed when space is at a premium in your home.
When space is at a premium in your home, you have to get creative to find place for that second or third workstation. In our home, we have a similar setup since we both work from our computers a lot. There is one workstation in our small home office, and another in the living room.
Technology has evolved over the last few years and it has changed the way that people see their home theater. While the traditional setup of a TV coupled with some speakers still exists, computers have made setting up a decent home theater a lot simpler or a lot more complicated, depending on what you’re looking for.
