It takes years for a person to learn how to write Japanese or Chinese characters. There’s good news though. Robots can do it a lot quicker. A research group has developed a ‘bot that can identify and mimic detailed brush strokes that are required to write these kinds of characters.

BERO ‘Bot: The Customizeable Smartphone-Controlled Robot

Hackable toys are nothing new, but there’s something appealing about pulling a ‘bot out of your pocket and remote-controlling it from your smartphone. I’m sure that some of the flying mini drones would also fit the bill, but the BERO (Be The Robot) looks pretty cool too.

Robojelly Underwater ‘Bot Powered by Hydrogen: Hopefully it Won’t Explode!

Didn’t I see something like this in an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars? This automaton kind of looks like an alien, but that’s because it’s based upon a jellyfish. That’s not the only surprising thing about this ‘bot. It’s also powered by hydrogen.
