Samsung’s Series 9 Laptop Hits the Streets: MacBook Air Alternative?

The aluminum- cased Samsung Series 9 has been touted as a serious MacBook Air alternative. Weighing just 2.88 pounds, it’s virtually the same heft as the 13-inch MacBook Air, and at .64″ thick, it’s even slightly thinner. However, The Series 9 comes with the latest Sandy Bridge processors from Intel. The main criticism with the MacBook Air is its slightly older processors. Also, the Series 9 ships with one USB 3.0 port standard too, and a mini-HDMI port.

Samsung X360:The MacBook Air Killer?

There is a new competitor for the MacBook Air in slimness and just plain old usefulness. But is it all that it’s hyped up to be? Remember that it still runs on Vista…. Unlike the MacBook Air, it has a lot of ports. 3 USB ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 ethernet port and 1 VGA port. Let’s just remind ourselves how many ports the MacBook Air has… 1 USB port. The Samsung X360 has a 13.3″ screen, no optical drive, weighs 2.8 lbs, has a 120 GB HD (you can also get a 64 GB or 128 GB SSD), 3 USB ports and a 7-1 flashcard reader. It naturally has an integrated 1.3 mega-pixel camera in its lid.
