Alarms clocks are a dime a dozen, but this beautiful bedside clock aims to shake things up a bit. Designed and engineered by Paul Sammut, the Nixie Ramos is part of a Kickstarter project featuring two decidedly different versions of the same clock. While the LED version is interesting, the Nixie version is the one you’ll want, but in order to get it, you’ll have to pay quite a lot more. That being said, the clock is handmade.

Remember that minimal Bluetooth handset? Well it looks like Woodguy32 has decided to put his own spin on the whole iPhone handset thing, with this steampunk-inspired dock. Except for the handset, most of this thing is made out of oak wood and brass, which is good, and it’s also really nice and retro.

It’s true that a lot of cell phones tend to look alike. That’s not the case with this cool retro concept that was created by Richard Clarkson. He calls it the Rotary Mechanical cell phone concept. It’s supposed to replicate the functionality of a smartphone, with some analog style.

While the steampunk Iron Man costume might not have been easy to reproduce, that didn’t stop toy modder Jonathan Kuriscak from putting together this cool-looking steampunk tribute to Iron Man – in miniature form. It’s pretty detailed and Kuriscak is selling it on eBay right now.

I finally managed to get my hands on Alastair Reynolds’ last book, Terminal World. One of the reasons why I had waited for a while is that the story was very steampunk-ish, and I don’t think that Alastair Reynolds should write steampunk. He should write hard science-fiction. Actually, I don’t really like reading about steampunk. I much prefer to read hard science-fiction, fiction, and fantasy.
