It’s official, Asterisk*Cycles is now selling Velocite Bikes‘ full lineup of products, from complete bikes to components.
One of the best examples of what Velocite does is the Millennium, their top of the line titanium road bicycle. This frame is bombproof and weighs 1,250 gr.
Right now, I’m really getting excited because the Magnus frames are going to in stock again in March. Velocite sold out their first batch of frames back in December. What is the Magnus? It’s an aggressive BB30 carbon fiber monocoque road bicycle.
Here are some new photos that I took of the Velocite Millennium. Now before you comment on my riding position, I’d just like to mention that I had some back problems last month. That’s why the handlebars are a bit high. They’ll come down in a few weeks and I’ll have it cut down further, dropping a few more grams.
With the rainy weather over Chinese New Year, that just started when the build of my Velocite Millennium Elite SRAM Red bike was completed, I stayed indoors most of the week. I regretted not purchasing a trainer. The rain finally let up yesterday and I decided to go out on a ride tonight.
It felt good, but I was slow, compared to my fastest time last year. I wanted to leave earlier, but I had to ready the bike for the ride. This meant transferring some of the gear over. It took longer than expected.
Victor just announced that he’s testing a new lightweight frame that will be called the Geos. It’s going to be very light, something like the Storck Fascenario 0.7, but a little more affordable. In his post, Victor promises that it will be reasonable. The Geos won’t be as stiff as the Magnus or the Helios, but it will most definitely find a market, as I was personally looking for a lightweight frame, but found some of them very expensive. The Guru Photon, 747gr, costs $4,900 USD. Storck Fascenario 0.7 costs $6,350 USD.
I went to the shop and took some photos with a recharged battery. It’s the day after we’ve received the components and the bike still looks good. The 2010 Velocite Millennium is Velocite’s top of the line bike. It’s made out of titanium and has got a lifetime warranty. It’s also got a 3-year replacement warranty for crashes. This frame sells for $1,899 USD.
I hadn’t much thought about the warranty on the Millennium frame that I’m about to get tomorrow, but I was pretty happy to find out that its got a lifetime warranty + 3 years on crashes. Now that’s really good!
The Millennium I’m getting will be decked out in SRAM Red. Photos and more when I receive it sometime tomorrow. It’s supposed to have arrived now. I’ll go take a look!
