Life A Civil War S01E07 (NBC)

Life stars Damian Lewis as Charlie Crews, a police detective who was recently exonerated of a series of murders after having spent 12 years in jail for life.

When two Iranian Americans are found murdered execution style in a convenience store, the LAPD is bracing for the fallout. Crews investigates incredibly and finds out that it wasn’t just a hate crime, it involved drugs and money as well.

Crews discovers who the Russian meant when he was talking about his partner. Olivia comes back to town and makes Earley all nervous.

I really liked this episode. I like how different these cases are from the normal police procedural cop shows out there. There are more characters and interesting facets to each case. Each case also reveals more about Crews and what was done to him.

Crews has strange dreams and he actualizes them by pursuing them in real life. He has strange leaps in reasoning which help him solve cases. I recommend Life, it’s a great show.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Over breakfast Charlie tells Earley that he wants to buy a solar array farm. Earley tells him that he already owns an orange grove. Charlie really wants it.

Reese and Crews get called to a new murder scene. Two bodies are found shot in the head locked in the freezer section of a Food Mart. They find “Go Home” written in angry letters on the fridge. The victims were young Iranian Americans.

The cashier tells the story. As he tells his story, they hear shots from the outside. The cops pull out their guns. It was a bunch of firecrackers. A mob fight breaks out. Stark stops an apparent skin head with a crowbar.

A mother and a daughter stop at the Food Mart. They identify the victims as Rashne and Daria, friends of Amir. The daughter says that the brother Amir must have been taken by the perpetrators of the hate crime.

The LAPD receives visits from the FBI, the mayor office and other departments who want to resolve this matter as quick as possible. Davis says that it will be treated as a homicide and run by the LAPD, unless the Feds take the case away. I think that it should be treated as a hate crime.

Daria and Rashne had arrests for dealing pot. They were both honor student at USC. Davis wants this case solved.

Reese interviews Amir’s mother. She makes a powerful statement. Find my son, find my Amir.

Crews tells Earley that Olivia will be by today. Crews meets Mary-Anne Farmer, the owner of the Food Mart. He shows Mary-Anne the security footage. He asks her if she recognizes anyone. She knows one of the boys. He is Jeffrey Farmer, her son. She tells him that his two buddies are surf rats.

Amir’s mother receives a ransom demand with a picture of a bloody Amir.

Earley is showing off the solar array to Olivia. Olivia is very voluptuous. She’s got giant breasts. The breasts and Olivia make Earley really nervous. Earley’s car breaks down as they leave the solar farm. Ted is out of gas. He’s got no cell service. Olivia finds this hilarious.

The kidnappers are using disposable cell phones. They demand the money that other kids were making off their drugs.

Mary-Anne wants to speak with Amir’s mother. She isn’t very understanding. Farmer is pessimistic about the outcome of the whole affair. Crews learns that Reese speaks Farsi.

They search Amir’s house.

Crews asks Reese about her strange reaction to the Bank of LA robbery. She said she had family issues. Crews creates a distraction to access the LAPD files. He finds out that Reese’s dad was involved. Her dad was SWAT leader of the force that took the Bank of LA. The Russian meant his current partner not his previous one.

They find a reference to a file or girl named Farah and level 10. They can’t find any clues about it. Charlie meditates on this issue and has an idea. He thinks that it has to do with Amir’s video game, the Prince of Persia. The object of the game is to save Farah and get to level 10. He notices Amir’s sister looking intently at the video game screen. When she gets to level 10, it unlocks a few spreadsheet files dealing with clients and sales.

Olivia and Earley are still trapped near the solar farm. She asks him why he is so nervous. He tells her that she makes him nervous.

They find a body dumped. It’s a surf rat and it’s not Jeffrey. The kidnappers phone Shanaz again and ask for the info about the clients. Davis wants to proceed with a trap.

Crews feels that something is wrong. He phones McCallister for more information about the spreadsheets. Crews wants the guy to keep looking. He finds a column with the name MAF written over it. It has over 93000$ in it in an offshore account. It has to do with Mary-Anne Farmer. They go to her house and find another surfer boy dead. Crews wants the offshore account tracked.

The next day Jeffrey is waiting to get the transfers done by his mom and Amir. Crews corners him. He deduces that Amir was having an affair with Mary-Anne. When Jeffrey tries to turn his gun onto the cops, he gets shot by the sniper.

Earley wakes up with Olivia’s hands in his face. They get woken up by some construction guys.

Amir told Mary-Anne how to invest her money wisely. She fell in love with him.

Crews connects Reese’s father to the frame that put him in jail.
