Torchwood Meat S02E04 (BBC)

Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.

From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.

I didn’t like this episode either. It was a bit of a bore. It’s too bad. The new season of Torchwood isn’t starting out with a bang. I actually like the new season of Primeval a lot better than the new season of Torchwood. I can’t say it enough, Primeval rocks compared to Torchwood. Maybe I phrased this wrong. Primeval just rocks. The last episode was really good.

This season is getting disappointing fast. It’s not only Captain Jack, but other main characters who have their love interests. In the last episode, it was Toshiko. This week, Reese got involved as well. Reese is Gwen’s fiancée.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

A man is driving his car. He gets a call from Ruth. It’s Reese, Gwen’s fiancée. He gets called to an accident site. One of his mates from work got killed. His name is Reynolds. He’s surprised to hear that the fire marshal has found something suspicious in the lorry. He’s called in Torchwood. For a super secret organization, they aren’t very secretive.

Gwen realizes that it’s Reese’s firm. Torchwood confiscates the content of the lorry. Owen says that the meat is fake.

Tosh wants to speak with Reese. His company was hired to pick up and deliver some meat. There isn’t much information on Reese’s file. The company’s name is Harris & Harris.

Owen finds out that it’s alien meat.

Gwen goes home to check up on Reese. Gwen says that she doesn’t know anything about the accident. She doesn’t deal with traffic problems. Reese knows that she is lying to him. He saw her at the accident site with Torchwood. Reese knows that Gwen is in Torchwood.

Reese follows Gwen and sees her meet up with Captain Jack. It looks like they are having an affair. Jack and Gwen leave for the slaughterhouse. Captain Jack and Gwen see Reese near the slaughter house.

Reese is meeting someone. It looks to Gwen that he knows the men. He doesn’t. They take him to the office. He tries to wing it and wants to continue where Layton left off. They show Reese a giant alien creature that is screaming in pain while it’s cut up into pieces of meat. The creature looks conscious and intelligent. It screams in pain. Reese pukes and leaves.

Gwen comes to see Reese. They have a screaming match. She tells him that she hunts down aliens and scavenges their technology.

She takes Reese to the Cardiff branch of Torchwood. He tells them about the giant alien. Reese suggests that he gets involved. The actor playing Reese thinks that acting involves a lot of shouting. He’s really annoying. He is going to drive in and complete the deal.

Tosh is trying to hit on Owen, but he doesn’t seem interested.

The op proceeds as planned and the team uses Reese’s truck to drop into the warehouse. The Torchwood team is disgusted by what they have done to the sentient creature. Owen finds out that the men at the warehouse are armed. Reese acts nervous and the guys suspect that something is up. They find Yanto in the slaughterhouse.

The men are able to get the Torchwood team. Captain Jack tells him that it’s an alien. They don’t believe them. The head man is about to shoot Gwen, but Reese steps in front of the bullet path to save her. The beast is starting to struggle.

The beast is about to get loose. Owen gives it a few mega shots. He tells Jack that he has mercy killed it.

Reese is fine. Gwen has to give him a pill so that he forgets. She refuses to do so.
