Doctor Who Planet Of The Ood S04E03 (BBC)

Doctor Who is a long-running, award-winning British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police phone box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems and righting wrongs.

The show’s lead character is currently portrayed by David Tennant. A Christmas special co-starring Kylie Minogue aired in December 2007, and the fourth series started on 5 April 2008. For that series, Catherine Tate will reprise her role of Donna Noble, from the 2006 Christmas special, as the Doctor’s latest companion. Midway through the series, Freema Agyeman will also return to her role of Martha Jones, following a multi-episode guest appearance in the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood. John Barrowman will continue his role as Captain Jack Harkness, and Billie Piper will return as Rose Tyler for three episodes. Elisabeth Sladen is also set to return as Sarah Jane Smith in a cameo role.

After a 2008 Christmas special and three further specials starring David Tennant, scheduled to air in 2009, Doctor Who is planned to return in 2010 for a fifth full length series.

From the Doctor Who entry at Wikipedia.

The Doctor is a long lived alien from the planet Gallifrey. He’s a Time Lord and travels through time thanks to his aging time capsule the Tardis. David Tennant is the tenth Doctor. My favorite has always been Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor. The Doctor periodically regenerates. When he does so, he changes outward appearance which let the producers change actors easily. All Time Lords regenerate 13 times. The Doctor’s nemesis is the Master, a renegade Time Lord who found a way around this limit. Other enemies includethe Black Guardian, the Daleks and the Cybermen.

The Doctor and Donna Noble arrive at a desolately beautiful and cold planet. After a while, the Doctor realizes that they are in the 43rd century, during the second great human empire spanning three galaxies. Surprisingly, the Doctor finds the Ood here. The last time that the Doctor met the Ood, they were taken over by the Devil. The Ood are a telepathic servant race that are used by humanity. In this episode, the Doctor gets the opportunity to liberate the Ood finally.

Donna is appalled and wants to free them all immediately. It’s only when the Ood start getting red eye syndrome and part of the Ood start going rabid that the humans realize that something is really wrong. The Ood keep going on about how the circle must be broken.

The Doctor and Donna finally solve the secret of the Ood and their slavery. The Doctor is able to free them and restore their telepathic links. All of the Ood from the three galaxies are heading back home, thanks to the fact that the song of the Ood was heard everywhere once the hive mind was liberated from its shackles.

Rose Tyler was actually seen at the end of the first episode of this season. Rose was the new Doctor’s first companion back in 2005. She stayed for two seasons before being sucked into another universe.

There, she finds herself trapped on the parallel Earth albeit reunited with Jackie, Mickey and the alternate Pete Tyler. Later, the Doctor manages to project his image through the last crack between the universes, sharing a tearful farewell with her. He informs Rose that she is presumed dead in the aftermath of the invasion, thus verifying Rose’s soliloquy at the start of the episode “This is the story of how I died”. Rose in turn mentions working with that parallel Earth’s (non secret) version of the Torchwood Institute due to her experience with aliens. Finally, Rose tells him she loves him, even though they denied it many times during the course of their time together. The Doctor begins to reply, getting as far as “If it’s my last chance to say it…Rose Tyler–” before the connection fails.

Rose is back for three episodes this season. Martha Jones will also make a multi episode appearance. The preview at the end of this episode indicates that Jones will be back in the next episode.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

An executive is watching the new sales pitch for the Oods. He is killed by the Ood that serves him.

Meanwhile, the Doctor has put the Tardis on a random course. They have arrived and Donna is pretty excited. The planet is freezing. Donna gets some warmer clothes. A rocket ship lands nearby.

The top exec has arrived. There have been three deaths in the complex. They have footage of an Ood killing another exec. They can’t see if the Ood had red eyes. The red eyes are symptomatic of some sort of infection.

Donna and the Doctor find an Ood in the snow. He’s been shot. He says that the circle must be broken. It jumps up with red eyes and dies. The Doctor said that the Ood are a mildly telepathic race that serves humans in the 42nd century. The Doctor says that a force took over the Ood the last time he saw them. He mentions that the Devil took them over, but Donna doesn’t believe him. They find the complex.

Solana is briefing a group of execs who are visiting the complex. The Doctor and Donna use the telepathic paper in order to get their way in. The alarm sounds. An Ood is making a break for it. A squad is after him. The Ood has got red eyes. It’s rabid. Mr. Halpen is informed that the Ood is rabid. Halpen wants it taken to the doctor, but not the Doctor. They are in the Ood Sphere. They are in the year 4126, in the time of the second great and bountiful human empire. The empire stretches out for three galaxies.

Donna is disturbed by the way that humanity has apparently enslaved the Ood. The Ood starts to talk about the circle. The Doctor’s got a rough guide to the Ood Sphere.

Halpen and the doc are examining the rabid Ood. They mention on warehouse 15. It’s been quiet for two centuries. Halpen suggests a post-mortem and has the rabid Ood killed, much to the chagrin of another Ood.

The last time that Halpen went into warehouse 15 when he was a boy with his father. There is some kind of giant beast in warehouse 15. Halpen tells an Ood that it’s daddy. Solana tells Halpen that the two people from the Noble Corporation have gone missing. She says that there is no such corporation.

The Doctor and Donna get into a shipping facility. They ship out Ood all over the three galaxies. When the Doctor asks them about the circle, they all say that the circle must be broken so that they can sing. They are spotted by security. Noble is imprisoned in a container. The chief security guard goes after the Doctor with a crane. Donna notices that the Ood have got red eyes. They start to come after her.

Solana stops him. They take the Doctor prisoner. The red eyed Ood go after the security guards who start shooting. Donna is reunited with the Doctor. Solana says that Dr. Ryder is responsible for what has been done to the Ood. The Doctor asks for her help, but she calls the guards. She informs Halpen where the Doctor is heading. He is heading to Ood conversion.

Mr. Cass says that the Ood have gotten red eye. More of them are going rabid. Cass says that the entire batch has been lost. Halpen says that it’s time to eradicate them and start over. There are plenty more Ood in the breeding farms. The Ood with Halpen looks at him concerned.

The Doctor and Donna get to a place where he can hear the songs of the Ood. Donna can’t hear the song. They find some natural born Ood, unmodified by captivity. The Doctor makes Donna hear the song of the Ood. She can’t bear it. She starts to cry and the Doctor takes it away. He can still hear it.

The Ood are holding something in their hands. They have it hidden. They are holding their hind brains. The company cuts off their brains and plugs in the translator. Donna says that she wants to go home.

Halpen breaks in and captures the Doctor and Donna. He tells him that the system has been working for two hundred years. He is informed that Halpen will gas the Ood.

The Ood that are about to be gassed form a circle. All of the Ood become infected. They start attacking the humans. All of the Ood are attacking now. Solana is killed.

Ryder says that it’s a revolution. Cass is put in the cage and exposed to the gas. The Ood are freed. The Doctor wants to know about the third element. The creatures can’t exist with a forebrain and a separate hind brain. There must be something else.

Halpen releases his Ood. The Ood are about to get Donna and the Doctor. The Ood with their hind brain stop the Ood without one from killing the Doctor and Donna. They look for Halpen and Ryder. Halpen and Ryder have gone to warehouse 15.

Halpen tells Ryder arrive at warehouse 15. He plans on blowing up the creature in warehouse 15. Halpen says if this thing dies, so do the Ood. The Doctor and Donna arrive at the warehouse. They find the Ood hive mind. Halpen says that they found the Ood hive mind in the glacier somewhere. The brain is encircled with a barrier, stopping the Ood from linking telepathically. Sigma Ood goes back to his master after having led the Doctor and Donna to the warehouse.

Ryder is responsible for lowering the level of the barrier. He lowered it to the minimum. Halpen throws him onto the giant hive mind. Ryder was working for the friends of the Ood.

Sigma Ood tells Halpen that they have been poisoning him for years. They turned him into an Ood. The Doctor releases the Ood brain and the Ood can sing now. Everyone can hear their song.

The Doctor tells the Ood that all of the Ood are coming back. Sigma tells the Doctor that his song will end soon. All songs come to an end.
