Weeds Season 2 Update, Review and Recap (Showtime)

This article is part of the meta-post 4169 Words Mostly Mine or How George Allen Is A Racist Biggot. This article gives an update, recap and review of the first four episodes of season 2 of Weeds, a off-beat comedy-drama on Showtime. This article is also a recap, so there are some spoilers.

For some reason, the first four episodes where leaked and naturally, I was able to watch them all. Weeds chronicles the life of Nancy, played deliciously by Mary Louise Parker, a suburban mom who, after the death of Judea, her husband, deals pot in order to maintain her lifestyle. The first season saw her ups and downs and dangers with dealing dope as well as taking it to the next level with dealing pot on a university campus. Her son is dating a deaf girl named Megan. Her brother in law Andy arrives at some point and tries to mooch off. He finds out that she is dealing and wants in the action. A coterie of villains is assembled to start growing their own special blend, thanks to Conrad, the expert grower who isn’t getting satisfied with how Heylia is treating him.

There are some spoilers ahead since this is a recap as well as a review.

The second season sees some ups and downs, with Silas making Megan pregnant after she tells him that she is going to study at Princeton instead of UCLA. Also, Nancy discovers that she is dating a DEA agent. She ends the relationship only to discover that he already knew that she was a dealer. They get unexpectedly married in the 3rd episode to prove that he can’t go after her. She met him during Shane’s karate practice last season. Celia has gotten cancer and is running for Doug’s post on the municipal council.

I really like this little show on Showtime, it’s very offbeat and totally takes your mind off anything. It’s quirky, charming and funny. The fun never stops in Agrestic California. The premise of the show is that everything looks peaceful in the gated community of Agrestic, but when you start pealing away the layers, secrets and plots start to appear.
