What do you do when one of the most annoying people moves into your office?
How do you cope with the added stress of having him behind you and ruining your perfect workday?
Does the Isolate Yourself At Work technique still work?
This has happened to me a few times. In the grand scheme of things, there is nothing that you can do to prevent this from happening. In a crowded office, it is almost impossible to stop people from nosing around a bit. Even more so when they are annoying.
Annoying people can be a hassle.
Does simply turning the volume up on your MP3 player or isolating device will help you?
Sure for a few moments, but there is always the danger that the annoying person is so self-centered that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about annoying or disturbing you. Right now at work, I am working double time, again.
Why?
As you might have read before, we are leaving on our first full week of leave on Friday, which will be pretty sweet. We will by no means not be working. We will be not working at our main jobs, which takes off about 42 hours of work per week. That still leaves the adult language classes, the tutoring and the other language school on Saturdays. But still, it significantly reduces our workload and will let us finish up some stuff next week.
My curriculum mapping is almost finished. I have finished the 1st draft of my grade 2 science mapping, which took about 7 hours. I have already finished my two language arts classes. On top of that, I have received confirmation that I will be teaching my advanced English class today to 4 of my students who are on vacation. And paid at very good rates too, I might add. I have already prepared this last week and spent a few minutes organizing the material that I have prepared for the students. Basically, they are all grade 4 students, but 3 of them are my best students, so I will be teaching them grade 6 material and I will try to find a few interesting things to do, like discussions and writing, which is what the mothers want.
Now on top of all this, how do you deal with annoying people?
Annoying people are loud, arrogant, self-centered, loud another time and just plain imbeciles. I actually abhor dealing with them and try to get myself out of any situations that might involve them. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen too many times.
Basically, I try to ignore and hope they get the drift. This is typically even more infuriating when a whole lot of other people just plain love and adore the annoying person, they just think he is the cat’s miaou!
I always counsel patience, just a few more days to go before Thailand!
