Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.

I didn’t like this episode either. It was a bit of a bore. It’s too bad. The new season of Torchwood isn’t starting out with a bang. Although it’s got good ratings, I find it significantly worse than any Doctor Who episodes. I actually like the new season of Primeval a lot better than the new season of Torchwood. I can’t say it enough, Primeval rocks compared to Torchwood. Maybe I phrased this wrong. Primeval just rocks. The last episode was really good.
I’ve watched this episode a while ago and even Martha Jones can’t really salvage Torchwood. Once again, some company has been using something alien to experiment on humans. Sounds like an old X-Files episode, without the fun.

The team is after a Weevil. It finds a dead body.
A VIP visitor arrives. It’s Martha Jones. She’s from UNIT. She’s found a strange pattern. The corpse has a puncture mark in his eye. His bloodstream was pumped full with ammonium hydroxide. Martha asks Owen to check his records. Meredith Robert’s medical files are erased.
Martha is happy to see Jack. They talk about the Doctor. Jack asks if she misses him. The Doctor recommended her for her job. A woman from UNIT called out of the blue.
Ianto comes to tell the team that another person was attacked and survived. They go and interview her.
Martha and Owen surmise that the injections are performed to erase evidence in the victim’s blood. There is another victim, this one is dead.
Marie the girl who was attacked collapsed. There is something strange in her blood that they don’t recognize.
Barry the student who died recovered from diabetes. Marie says that she had HIV. She says that’s the Reset. She got it from the Pharm, a medical research center. She got a lot of money. She collapses. Strange insects come out of her body. It’s a swarm of alien larvae.
Reset is a magical bullet that resets the body to how it was before it was sick. However, this cure comes coupled with a host of alien larvae, who create the cure as a by-product. The Pharm’s director is Dr. Aaron Copley. They want to have a look around. Copley says that they are fireproof. Copley has them escorted back to their car. He denied knowing anything about the cure or the alien insects. Jack says that the complex has the highest concentration of aliens this side of the rift.
Toshiko still can’t get into their computers. Pharm is looking for volunteers for a clinical trial. Martha volunteers since she has a medical background. She gets some alien contact lenses that work like cameras and permit Torchwood to text her. Copley meets her during her screening. She tells Copley that she has hepatitis. Copley wants her on the test.
Toshiko and Owen are talking. He realizes that she asked him out on a date. Owen agrees.
At the Pharm center, Martha snoops around. They call the parasite the mayfly. Jack tells her to get out of there. They’ve got remote access. The Pharm is running its own hitmen. Martha escapes. At least she tries to. But it’s like a prison. A creature escaped from the facility. An alarm sounded. They aren’t after Martha. It’s a creature. It’s a big mayfly.
Ianto and Gwen go after the latest test subject. The hitman is on its way to kill her. They arrive just in time. They use a Weevil to scare Davis to get what they want to know.
Martha is being interrogated by Copley. He knows that she is from Torchwood. He says that Martha’s lymphocytes have mutated. He says that she is a human being who traveled in time and space. She has got a very strong immune system. She’s been mutated by radiation not from this solar system. Radiation that comes from a temporally unstable time. They force her to take Reset.
Davis is about to die from something. It turns out that he was infected by the mayfly. A bigger insects bursts out of his chest thanks to Owen’s alien scalpel. He’s dead. Tosh thinks of a way to use Davis’ body to get into the Pharm.
They arrive, but it’s too late. Martha is infected by the mayfly. The others find a Weevil. They use the creatures to extract the chemicals from the aliens.
Jack tells Copley that he is going to shut things down. Owen is able to use his fancy scalpel to get the alien out of Martha. Tosh is shutting down the facility. Copley arrives with a gun. He shoots Owen. Jack shoots Copley in the head. Owen is dead.
