Torchwood Miracle Day: Immortal Sins S04E07 (BBC)

Torchwood Miracle Day title card, via Wikipedia

Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction program Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked.

From the Torchwood Wikipedia entry.

I’ve been busy watching the Tour de France and also playing Dragon Age II, so I haven’t had much time to watch shows, but at least I’m making time for Torchwood. It’s been a while since the last series, and I was wondering if Torchwood would be back. They had also killed off most of the team, so you always wondered in what form they’d be back. The new American additions to Torchwood aren’t that impressive. They are actually quite annoying, but the whole premise of Miracle Day is somewhat tantalizing. I’ve watched 3 episodes, and we still have to find out what exactly is going on.

The first three episodes were pretty good in my opinion. I watched them all in one go, so it’s safe to assume that the story is good. The whole collaboration with an American TV channel is somewhat strange, but it makes for an interesting setting since they spend a good amount of time in the US.

On Miracle Day, everyone stops dying. They don’t have eternal youth, but just continue on living, even when they are dismembered. Currently, an analyst and an operative from the CIA have recruited Jack and Gwen to investigate. In the midst of it all, they come across a strange conspiracy, involving PhiCorp, a big pharmaceutical company, who knew about Miracle Day before it would happen.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.
