Warning: Spoilers ahead.

This episode is all Sun and Jin. It tells the story of how they will deal with Sun’s pregnancy. The episode is divided into four distinct storylines. This is the first episode to feature flashbacks and flashforwards. Three of these storylines concern Sun and Jin. The last one takes place on the freighter where Desmond and Sayid meet the captain of the Kahana. They also meet Ben’s spy, whom they both know from the past.

The first storyline shows that Sun and Jin are trying to go to Locke’s camp. Sun has decided and Jin is coming with her. Through a few convolutions, Juliet is able to convince Sun to stay on the beach, even after she betrays Sun’s confidence to Jin. This only made their relationship stronger. Sun is two months pregnant.

The other storyline involves Jin trying to get to the hospital. Initially, we are deceived into thinking that this is part of a flashforward and that Jin is going to join Sun in the hospital. But Jin is just doing his job and giving a gift to the Chinese ambassador from Paik Heavy Industries.

In the flashforward, Sun is giving birth. She survived the island and gives birth to a baby girl. Hurley joins her at the end of the episode when she goes to visit Jin’s grave in Korea. Jin died, or did her? The episode is very romantic and portrays Jin and Sun’s love. I found it interesting and enjoyed the twists and turns. I thought it interesting when I realized that there was a flashforward mixed in with a flashback. Initially, I supposed that both storylines were taking place in the future. It’s only at the end that we realize that the one involving Jin is in the past and the one involving Sun is in the future.

Michael’s reappearance on the freighter Kahana was interesting as well. I didn’t know if Michael would be back. Michael is working for the Others. He is Ben’s spy on the boat. What happened with Walt? I wonder if we will learn his story in this season. That would be very watchable.

Jin doesn’t plan on going with her anymore. He goes back to the beach. He goes fishing with Bernard. Bernard talks about his wife Rose, who’s sick and dying. She was dying however since she came to the island, she’s been better.

Bernard was sure that Rose would go with Locke. Bernard says that it was the right thing to do. Locke is a murderer. It’s all about karma.

The freighter is called the Kahana. Desmond and Sayid are hearing a strange knocking. Sayid says that the sound is not mechanical. Someone is knocking on them on purpose. The medic comes to get them to see the captain. They see that the helicopter is gone. Desmond sees Regina about to jump off the boat with chains around her. Desmond tries to save her, but the captain intervenes and has everyone get back to their posts. His name is Captain Gault.

Captain Gault says that he didn’t want to lose more people. Gault calls it a heightened sense of cabin fever. He’s been trying to get away from the island, but they have a saboteur on board who sabotaged the engines. Gault says that this is Charles Widmore’s boat.

They go to his office. He shows them a flight data recorder. It’s from Oceanic Flight 815. He bought it. It was found with all 324 dead bodies of all of the passengers on board. The wreckage was staged. A lot of resources must have gone into staging this. It’s one of the many reasons they want Benjamin Linus. Ben staged this.
Juliet apologizes to Sun. She says that if she doesn’t get off the island, she will die.

In the future, Sun is in the hospital giving birth. The doctor says that they have to perform a C-Section. But Sun gives birth naturally. She gives birth to a baby girl. Ji Yeon.

The doctor brings them back to their cabin. The doctor brings them to their new room. It’s the room where Minkowski committed suicide. The doc calls Johnson. Johnson is Michael. He is posing as Kevin Johnson. Sayid smartly pretends that he doesn’t know Michael.

On the beach, Jin brings dinner to Sun. He doesn’t want to hear about it. He says that he changed since he came to the island. Jin says that he will go to Locke’s camp with her. Sun says that she will stay on the beach, Juliet was very convincing. Jin asks her if the baby is his. Sun says yes. Sun says that she loves him. Jin loves her as well and that she will never lose him.

In the past, Jin arrives with the panda. He bought the panda for the Chinese ambassador’s grandchild. He brought the panda as a gift from Paik Heavy industries. It is as Jin leaves the hospital that we realize that these scenes take place in the past, two months after Jin married Sun.

In the future, Sun puts her wedding ring back on. Hurley comes by to accompany her to Jin’s grave. Jin died. Reyes says that Ji Yeon looks just like Jin. There are numbers on his grave. He died on the 22nd of September 2004. Hurley and numbers, maybe these numbers are significant? The date he died was the date that Lost was first broadcasted on television.
