The Mentalist Red Letter S02E22 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Some dude named Brava is making a big speech at the Global Human Rights conferences. Yeah right! Right before he can make his speech, he is killed. He received a text from someone named Carmen. The sheriff has got his own psychic here. Her name is Christine Fry. Jane knows her.

Brava was going to make a speech about human trafficking. The wife tells them to talk to Bigelow, Brava’s researcher.

Cho and Rigsby talk with Bigelow. They made a connection between a charity run by Christopher Lynch and human trafficking. He gives them a copy of the speech. Lynch helped them shut down some traffickers creating a sort of monopoly. Lynch denies that he is involved in human trafficking. He says that he saw Tariq Shariff arguing with Brava. Lynch opens his files to the feds.

Lisbon and Jane go to see Shariff. They find Fry there talking with him. He’s sporting a black eye. It has to do with Isla, Brava’s wife. He saw a woman leaving Brava’s suite the night before he was killed.

Cho and Rigsby are investigating a place that Lynch might have called. They get inside. It’s got barbed wire on top of high fences. They find a locked truck filled with a bunch of illegal immigrants. This means that Lynch is a human trafficker. The phone call was to make sure that his goons could escape.

Jane goes to see Ilsa again with Fry. Jane calls Lisbon. They are at Shariff’s bar. It’s a sort of brothel. The pimp recognizes Bigelow. He got a girl from the bar. The girl says that Brava was going to become a regular. She had a key for his place in Oakland. They find a card for a masseuse named Carmen. There was also a message for Brava from Carmen Reyes. Jane goes with Van Pelt to see the Carmen at the Motel.

Cho and Rigsby find a dead Carmen. Sallie Alvarez was pretending to be Carmen Reyes. Carmen Reyes claims to be Brava’s daughter. She went to confront him the night before he died. He told her that he had already his daughter and that she was trying to scam him.

Ilsa says that she knew about his flaws. They have an impromptu séance. Jane has a plan. It works. Bigelow is the murderer. He read Carmen’s correspondence to Brava. He had Sallie Alvarez pretend to be Carmen. He sent her to him and then told him that he had sex with his own daughter. He also killed Sallie.
