The Mentalist The Red Mile S03E18 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Timothy Hartley was shot and then his throat was slit near Auburn. He had money and his wife had even more money. The coroner’s van was held up. The body was stolen. Tim was a hedge fund manager. His wife had the real money and she came from the Cook family. They question them. The coroner Steiner asks to tag alone. Jane liked to play tricks on him.

Tim’s partner is lying. He basically says nothing. The same goes for the family. There have been other corpses stolen from coroner vans. Most likely, they were harvested and their tissues were sold.

They take a look at Tim’s GPS to find out where he was going for some mystery appointment. Tim was in therapy. He believed that he was abducted by aliens. They find some kind of a video diary on his laptop. He documented some crazy stuff. Jane knows that Steiner is dying. That’s why he let him come along. He’s got a month left to live.

Cho questions the partner again. He says that they need to talk to Newsome Kirk, a UFO geek.

Grace’s FBI agent is on the case. He spotted some funeral home guy who’s acting cagey. He started selling bodies to tissue banks. His cousin has started providing him with bodies. His name is Owen Melling. They go see him and he starts shooting. Grace’s boyfriend is a coward. He almost got her killed but Rigsby saved her. There were two guys there. One is Jim Matthews.

Newsome Kirk is played by the actor who played Neelix in Star Trek: Voyager. He says that Tim had a fight with his shrink. He has a sheet under another name. Tim found out about this and pulled his funding. There’s a bench warrant out on him. They take him in. He posts bail. Lisbon finds out that Steiner is giving an interview about tissue banks.

Jane has Steiner make a call pretending that he’s got the body. It’s the butler and Mrs. Cook. She shot him and slit his throat.

Steiner asks Jane to witness his death. He plans on killing himself with pills. Jane is against it, but he stays to bear witness.
