The Mentalist Every Rose Has Its Thorn S03E19 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

John Flynn is the CEO of Symphony, a high-end match-making service. He was shot twice and then dumped in the marina.

Cho is interviewing the grieving widow played by Morena Baccarin. She was married with John for a year and she’s also a match-maker. Jane thinks that she killed her husband.

Rigsby interviews Erica’s alibi. She asks Rigsby out or something like that. She was somewhat nervous. Van Pelt finds a video of the ex-wife on a video sharing site. She was pissed. Van Pelt interviews her. She says that the fight was with Henry Cliff, but she doesn’t know what it was about. Erica signed a pre-nup before she married Flynn. Apparently, John wanted to retire and take life easy while Erica wanted to expand Symphony.

Jane pays Erica a visit at Symphony. She thinks that he is here to find a match. He confronts her about killing her husband.

Cho and Rigsby pay Cliff a visit. He says that the fight was about Naomi, a woman he met. A woman he met through Symphony blackmailed him. John was supposed to fix it.

Van Pelt manages to find someone who matches Naomi’s profile. All of the info she provided to Symphony was fake. They send in Rigsby. They find her and arrest her.

Jane is putting together how Erica killed her husband. Her video alibi is suspect. He heard a clicking sound on the DVD, which he matches to a tape-recorder. If Erica played with the lights, she could have left the sound booth unnoticed. She must have had an accomplice of some sort, probably the receptionist. They arrest him and question him. They release him when he doesn’t talk. Erica keeps baiting Jane. Peter kills himself shortly after. It was just a ploy to get Peter to see what Erica thinks of him. He tells them everything and Erica is arrested.

Rigbsy goes out with Sarah.
