The Mentalist The Blood on His Hands S03E03 (CBS)

The Mentalist tells the story of Patrick Jane played by Simon Baker, a man specializing in studying the micro-expressions of people who became involved with trying to catch a serial killer named Red John. Red John killed his wife and daughter. Since then, Jane has been working with the stupidly named CBI, California Bureau of Investigations, a kind of state police.

Robin Tunney plays Agent Lisbon, who is in charge of the unit. Van Pelt is the new agent on the squad. Rigsby has a crush on her. The Mentalist is kind of like the TNT show Psych, but it’s not a comedy, it’s a drama. I’ve enjoyed this series because it’s light and interesting. I’ve kind of come to despise Criminal Minds.

Jane uses his semi-celebrity and his lack of protocol to solve cases quickly, cases in which the CBI wouldn’t be able to come up with answers without him. Each episode has the color red in its title. The Mentalist resembles the show Lie to Me, which premiered in 2009 on Fox. The Mentalist started on the 23rd of September 2008 on CBS.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

They find a body in the river. She’s got track marks in between her toes. Jane gets a call from the missing person’s detective. Kristina Fry called in some psychic show. It’s her. So she’s still alive. Jane immediately goes there. There is a Red John tag on a wall. He kept her locked up in a room. The blood belongs to Fry. Jane tells Lisbon that the case should stay with Molinari.

Rigsby has met someone. Van Pelt is on his case.

The dead body is Celia Jovanovich. The tattoo that she had on her back is part of the iconography of a cult named Visualize. Celia worked for Vigilance, the church’s security arm. Celia had a fiancé, David Harren.

Jane uses a cultist to find Stiles, who didn’t want to be found by the cops. Stiles is giving a talk. Jane interrupts him. Stiles was expecting him. He though that he was here about Kristina Fry and Red John.

Rigsby goes to see the fiancé. It was an arranged marriage. He’s been engaged to her for a few weeks. The same lawyer is there to represent the church’s interests. Herren is loaded. He’ll get 10 million when he hits 27.

Celia had some problems with Visualize. She had some questions about dogma. They go see Lucy Joel. She left the church. She was Celia’s friend. She was having an affair with someone high up in the church.

After they leave, Rigsby notices someone following them. Van Pelt tries to get behind the car by pulling some manoeuver, but it backfires. The SUV hits their car. The guy is with the FBI. He says that the FBI has been investigating Visualize for a few years. Jane divines that the FBI has got a deep cover agent inside the church.

Jane finds the undercover agent immediately. Jane says that Stiles is feeding him false info. He’s using him. He wants to see one of Celia’s videos. These are confession videos. Jane uses this as a ploy to smoke out the killer. It’s the lawyer. He says that he killed her because she was going to tell Herren.

When they walk out the perp, Herren arrives with a gun and shoots the lawyer dead.

Stiles wants to talk with Jane. He says that Red John has got a party planned for him. He knows things about Red John. There is an address on the piece of paper that he handed over. Jane smartly calls Lisbon and the CBI to storm the place. Inside, they find Fry. She’s catatonic.

Patrick gets her to respond. She believes that she’s dead and that she’s a ghost.
