Fresh on the heels of the boring Twilight craze, and the well-deserved True Blood phase, CW is offering up its latest in teen dramas. Apparently, this show drew 5 million viewers its first night. That’s probably due to Twilight-hype. I can’t stand Twilight. It sucks ass. I couldn’t read the books, but read a review from Dan Bergstein on those Stephanie Meyer books. It was very entertaining. The movie kind of sucked as well.

This is the situation, as I’ve divined it using my psychic powers. The Fox network saw that Twilight was really working well. Wow, maybe vamps are cool again, said one exec. Another said, maybe not, remember Forever Knight. Then, everyone went bonkers for True Blood. The same exec said it confirmed his theory that vamps are back in, notably teen vamps, not crazy sex-addicted vamps. One exec mentioned Teen Wolf, the other slapped him on the back of the head.

So, we need to find a teen vampire series. Wait, my daughter used to read some vampire thingie called The Vampire Diaries in the 90s. Let’s pressure L. J. Smith to write some sequels as an added incentive. That will make it cool!

Warning: spoilers ahead

I’ll admit that the whole Petrova doppelganger is somewhat interesting, but the whole Sun/Moon curse thing that was laid onto them by some Shaman is idiotic. That and the fact that some original vampires are around, messing about. Elijah isn’t impressive as an original. He’s a bit of letdown, to be honest. Smith should have taken some inspiration in vampire fiction and used some of those concepts in his own story.

Tears start streaming down Jenna’s face when she realizes that Elena and Ric knew that Isobel was still alive. Well un-alive or undead or something like that. Katherine wants Stefan and Damon to keep quiet about her presence.

Ric arrives. Jenna wants to leave. Caroline can’t find Matt.

John invites Isobel inside the house. She says that Klaus can’t be found but that there is a new Petrova doppelganger is around. Isobel says that she has a safe house for Elena. The deed is in Elena’s name, so no vampire can get in.

Damon, Bonnie, and Jeremy arrive at Luka’s place. She wants to get the grimoires to find a spell to harness ancient dead witch power. Whatever.

Isobel and Katherine are in cahoots. She says that she’s been busy making a deal with Klaus to save Katherine’s life. In exchange for the moonstone and the Petrova doppelganger, Klaus will let Katherine live.

Damon takes the witch to the place where a lot of other witches died. The dead witches don’t like having Damon around. He waits outside. Meanwhile, Katherine is going through the Salvatore place. She’s trying to find the moonstone. It doesn’t take her long. It was hidden in plain sight.

Isobel dupes Ric once again. Some witch working for Klaus has got him. Later, she sucks John’s blood as a distraction to get Elena. Katherine takes her place. Outside, Katherine injects Stefan with verbena and gets away.

John isn’t really dead. Well, he is, but he’s got the Gilbert ring. Damon tells Mrs. Lockwood and the Sheriff that he’ll be fine in a few hours.

Matt shows up all fired up and wants to see Vicky’s file. The Sheriff has to put him under control.

Isobel tells Katherine that he wanted the moonstone and her, not Elena. The same guy who got Ric gets Katherine.

Bonnie is happy with the power she was able to harness and shows it off to Jeremy. Yippee!

Stef and Damon find Isobel’s house.

Isobel shows Elena her gravestone. The man phones Isobel and tells her that her part is done. She can let the doppelganger go. She did what she was compelled to do. Isobel removes a necklace and bursts into flame. Vampire suicide, I like it.

Stefan and Damon plan on giving their house to Elena so that she can control who can in it. John is back alive.

Matt reports back to the Sheriff. She knows that Caroline is a vampire and tells her everything that happened.

Katherine wakes up. The witch is putting a spell on Ric. He wakes up. It looks like they put vampire blood in him. The witch bows to Ric. Ric is Klaus.
